Here we go!!

OP posts:
bizzey · 27/04/2024 22:50

A & D chose the Taekwondo act that broke the wooden slats.

So glad the plumber came back and gave it another go

I don't think he was that funny , but he had a good reception which was nice to see .

SabreIsMyFave · 27/04/2024 23:56

What a load of old shit this season is. Show 1 last Saturday night was just about OK, but had clearly scouted acts, and was utterly contrived. Show 2 last Sunday was crap - just 2 'OK' acts. Tonight's show (Show 3,) was fucking DIRE!

The lad doing the breakdancing - seen it all before. Bog standard meh...
Batman - stupid act, didn't like his voice.
The Choir - sounded messy and disorganised.
The 22 y.o. man whose parents were 'shocked' to see him on stage was average.
The miming to the guitar man was ludicrous.
The middle aged man comedian was as funny as the piles.
The Japanese Robot act was OK, but still felt like we've seen it all before.

Amanda needs to lay off the botox and collagen. Bruno is as dull as dishwater, and needs to go. And as for the ad breaks, me and DH record the show on our Freesat box, and start watching it 20-25 minutes in. (Then we can skip through the breaks.) It would be unbearable to watch otherwise (even moreso,) with all the ad breaks in.

I agree with other posters: it's had its day. If this is the best of the acts, I would hate to see the worst. It's getting shockingly bad. If tomorrow night's is a bit average or crap again, I am done with it. I felt annoyed and insulted at how fucking shit it was tonight.

YukNo · 28/04/2024 01:56

It took me 10 minutes to get the cat joke 😳

GrandTheftWalrus · 28/04/2024 03:51

I still don't get the cat joke not gonna lie.

bizzey · 28/04/2024 04:45

Another one who didn't understand the cat joke !

Cattyisbatty · 28/04/2024 06:25

I asked dh re cat joke
‘meows’ ‘me hours’ - terrible!
I give him kudos for being a randomer and getting up there, but ffs.
The singer at the end - def a musical type vibe and I wouldn’t go 😆 Maybe choice of song was wrong?
Dont think I’ll bother with rest of season.

Higglings · 28/04/2024 06:40

Why is it still called BGT when half the acts are foreign.

Poor acts this week, none should be put in the final.

Tortiemiaw · 28/04/2024 08:06

Harrison is a Brit school graduate professional - shocked I was (not 🙄)

Yirk · 28/04/2024 08:08

Terrible series this year, very few are British and even fewer have talent!!

Piggywaspushed · 28/04/2024 08:36

I actually liked the choir and imagine it sounded better in the auditorium where they will have had the wall of sound effect. I liked that they were having such fun. British choirs are often so uptight.

As an outlier, I like Harrison's song. I believe it's from the Ghost musical. But I didn't think is voice was all that . Sung properly that song is goosebumps stuff.

I fell asleep during the whole middle bit!

Piggywaspushed · 28/04/2024 08:37

Colour me surprised.

Piggywaspushed · 28/04/2024 08:38

Harrison was really old looking for 22!

It took me ages to get the cat joke. His tigers sounded a bit like he'd typed ' come up with some jokes to chatgbt but I liked him!

DramaLlamaBangBang · 28/04/2024 10:58

PlumpHobbit · 27/04/2024 21:13

That makes sense why they've smashed through several already. Imo it makes them less meaningful and special and may as well scrap the gold buzzer altogether, or go back to just one

It's so obvious with some of them ( the singer from last week especially) that they've asked professionals to go in and promised them the golden buzzer so they probably now have to do more than 5.

I agree. I have no issue with someone auditioning who moved from outside the UK to live here/work here, and has been here at least 3 years. But people actively coming 1000s of miles from other continents to appear is just batshit. Even the winner last year was from Norway, but I think he had lived in the UK for about a decade.

But yeah, people coming to the UK from another country just to audition should be banned IMO. It's BRITAIN'S got talent, not Japan's Got Talent, America's Got Talent, or South Africa's Got Talent. Yes, some of these acts are good, but unless they are British residents, (and have been for a minimum of 3 years,) they should not be allowed to compete.

I don't think it's on tonight. Agree last night was absolute crap. Don't think any of those acts will make the final.

Oh right, thank you. If it's not on tonight then I will watch it just one more time. Next weekend. If the acts are shite/clearly scouted again, I will bail.

Lots of the British acts compete in other countries though too. Its just seen by them as a circuit. Most of our magicians want to be spotted on BGT so they can make it to AGT and onwards to Vegas.

Well that's up to those other countries to ban them then. (If they wish.)

I stand by what I say, (and many others think the same,) it's BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT, and should only feature British residents. As I said, it's fine if they came from another country, and moved here to live and work, but they must have British residency.

I did say they should have lived here for a minimum of 3 years, but when I looked it up, it turns out you need to be here for 5 years to get British residency. So I am changing what I said to 5 years, not 3.

Piggywaspushed · 28/04/2024 12:34

But we do 'have the talent' if they come and perform here. Its Britain has got talent ...not Britons Have Talent.

But...just checking... it's OK for our acts to appear in AGT?

You are sounding a touch xenophobic.

Piggywaspushed · 28/04/2024 12:35

The bigger issue to me is how shit it's become even with scouted acts, whether British or overseas!

PlumpHobbit · 28/04/2024 13:12

Didn't know that about Harrison but now I know it makes me really cross they tried to make out he was some timid every day contestant by putting him in the audience and faking he'd gone to the loo and wouldn't be back in time to see the next act

If you're going to do that do it with someone like the comedian and stop taking us for mugs 😡

Feels like this needs to be the last series for a couple of years, flogging a dead horse springs to mind

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/04/2024 13:35

The point of bgt is that the winner goes on the royal variety show and that the king would want to see

Piggywaspushed · 28/04/2024 13:57

It's not really though is it? They all obediently say that but that's not really their aim! Or Cowell's.

That's why it has to be obediently said nine times per programme , lest we all forget.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/04/2024 15:43

True @Piggywaspushed
