I wish they’d kept Saturday Night Takeaway and ditch BGT after this series. There isn’t anything more to give. No outstanding, memorable performances anymore. We’ve seen it all. It’s just performed by someone else.

Omg that’s flipping amazing 🤩

I have so many questions? How did that happen????

please post on the Strictly thread when it starts up again. We all love Wilf over there

Riverlee · 04/05/2024 21:26

The sad thing is, a lot of decent acts get rejected at the audition stage. I guess it’s always been ‘fixed’ to a certain extent, but probably we’re more savvy about it compared to early days. However, now there seems to be all invited acts, and the genuine discovery doesn’t happen.

Elderflower14 · 04/05/2024 21:29

Joanne was Princess Fiona in Shrek. Wilf waited outside for her. He called me and I said hello! Jo said they had been dancing!!

How fantastic

Do you think it is possible that Abigail could get some support for her communication as a result of being on BGT? She is obviously an extremely talented and lovely girl. However, they said that she does not know any sign language. It did not appear that she has any speech either. Her life chances could be massively increased if she could be given the speech therapy/sign language lessons or other assistance that would allow her to communicate. I realise that access to such support may be more difficult if she lives in a rural area of Ghana, or her family have a low income.

I totally agree. BGT needs putting it to pasture now, or at least having a 4 or 5 year break like Big Brother did. I'd be quite happy for them to bring back X Factor, to be honest for you. That's had about a 5 year break. Now would be a nice time to bring it back.

I also loved those two girls from Ghana. Very spirited, very talented, and very beautiful. 😄 And I also like Pogo Stick man. Last night was better than last Sunday's which was just dire IMO. I think I'll give you another go next week. but still, I'd be quite happy for it to finish now, at least for say, 4 years.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/05/2024 22:25

If they stopped the singers /choirs

Then prob be good

I loved pogo man and the magician

Lots of news items on the internet over the last few days about 'nervous,' 'shy,' and 'timid' singer Taryn Charles. (Who was on BGT on Saturday night.) Apparently, she knows Simon Cowell, she is a professional singer, she has appeared on BBC talent show 'Starstruck,' and she has showreels, and an agent, and is 'available for work' as the professional she is.

She is indeed outstanding, and worthy of fame and adulation. But this bullshit that they peddle, where a professional is shown as a 'timid shy newcomer' who is overwhelmed by the praise and cheers from the audience, and getting the golden buzzer (that they very likely knew was coming,) needs to STOP.

Stop taking the piss out of the audience, and pretending this is Sharon who works in Greggs who has never been on a stage before, coming on dressed like she's about to do some painting and decorating, and 'crying' when she got through. It's a fucking insult to our intelligence!

Same goes for the woman who sang 'Tomorrow' the other week. (Sydnie Christmas.) Even when she was on stage, it was quite clear she is a not an amateur. It turned out after the show was broadcast, that she is a West End performer! Yet she was peddled as a newcomer. Just fuck off with this shit Simon Cowell. We've had enough of it now. If you are going to bring on scouted-talent that are already professionals, either be honest about the fact they are NOT shy amateurs, or do a separate show for the professionals.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/05/2024 11:25

Agree be truthful

SabreIsMyFave · 06/05/2024 11:40

I agree. It's nonsense. Either say ' I'm a jobbing singer' or have a professional show. It's so disingenuous and reflects badly on the contestants when within 5 minutes you can look online and work out these people arent ' care workers' or whatever they put in their byline, but professional performers who have careers in a very competitive industry already!

JenniferBooth · 06/05/2024 16:12

I suspect they are having to get professionals on because there has been a huge drop in members of the public auditioning, but i agree with @SabreIsMyFave Pretending they arent professionals is gaslighting the audience. I notice the next show isnt on until Sunday. Its Eurovision Song Contest this coming Saturday right? They dont feel confident enough to clash with that

SabreIsMyFave · 07/05/2024 11:06

@JenniferBooth · Yesterday 16:12

I agree. And people probably don't bother auditioning now, because they know they won't stand a chance, because it's pretty much 95% fixed/contrived now ...

Even the viewing figures have gone down. (LOADS.) Used to be 14 million + a week. Now the viewing figures barely scrape past 5 million. (For SATURDAY NIGHT peak time!) Even this thread hardly has any traction. Some 7-8+ years ago, this would have been the third thread on BGT by this point in the series. We're barely a third of the way through thread 1.

Spot on - stop taking viewers for mugs. It's almost deception

Feel it's getting desperate at this point and at least either needs a break or do a separate section for the professionals and a separate one for the amateurs - both winners perform. The professionals one could be like the Mamma Mia show they did

PlumpHobbit · 12/05/2024 19:47

Anyone else watching. We begin with yet another choir who have been visited by the judges so you bet they're getting a gold

PlumpHobbit · 12/05/2024 19:50

Why does everything have to have a bloody message now?!

I can’t bear it.
No more choirs.
No more Choirs invited to audition.

And they aren’t that great.

PlumpHobbit · 12/05/2024 19:53

They were nicely in time but nothing to write home about

Fleamaker · 12/05/2024 19:56

The screaming was too much

SmashingGemini · 12/05/2024 19:56

Why do they all keep screaming??? It’s unbearable!

Fleamaker · 12/05/2024 19:58

I'm hoping for a really unique act tonight

Meredusoleil · 12/05/2024 19:58

I liked the brightly coloured T-shirts. But there have been better children's choirs before them imho.

PS For some unknown reason, whenever the programme is on, the subtitles are coming up automatically. But the TV setting shows they are off 🤬

PlumpHobbit · 12/05/2024 20:00

The screaming irritated me, a lot. They even screamed mid song

Fleamaker · 12/05/2024 20:02

Another 'DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME' 😂

I wish!
