Bridgerton and Benedict / Luke Thompson

Is anyone else unbecomingly excited about the new season? AND

Is anyone else absolutely fascinated with Benedict/Luke Thompson and has managed to figure out what makes him so incredibly appealing? He's by no means the handsomest actor on the series, but there is just Something About Him, right? I discovered last night that he speaks fluent French and now I'm literally having to fan myself. I truly thought I was too old for this shit!

Please share if you agree so that I feel less alone/embarrased. 😂

And no need to feel embarrassed at all😃

Queenofwistfulthinking · 12/04/2024 11:30

I loved series 2 ❤️❤️❤️

SiobhanSharpe · 12/04/2024 11:33

He looks altogether different in those RSC photos, much less chubby in the face.

Karmaisagod · 12/04/2024 12:46

Thank you @hanka! I may have, ahem, attended a performance of this last night, which has only served to fuel this Eartha Kitt nonsense. His participation was not the main draw initially (I did genuinely think I was above this shit), but I can exclusively reveal he strips down to his boxers. Fevered googling ensued, the fluency in French was uncovered, and here I find myself, posting on Mumsnet.

Seriously: what is it about him?!

Have you seen "A Little Life"? He gets fully undressed 😄

VenetiaHallisWellPosh · 12/04/2024 12:52

He's very attractive.

He's very funny in Bridgerton too. I like a man who makes me laugh.

Swoons

Goodness. I didn't think I could face the torture of watching A Little Life even for him (the book was endless agony enough), but I may have to just pull my big girl pants up in the interests of research.

He is absolutely dreamy and the best man in the series. Very handsome.

MamaNewtNewt · 12/04/2024 18:19

I have just binge watched Bridgeton and I know exactly what you mean. The first few episodes I thought he blended in but I found my eye drawn to him more and more as he always seems to be highly amused by everything that's going on. He's definitely my favourite Bridgestone brother, although S3 Colin is showing some promise!

MyFuckRationsAreDepleated · 12/04/2024 18:49

I certainly wouldn’t kick him out of bed on a cold night 🤭

Karmaisagod · 12/04/2024 20:38

Oh God, I've just remembered that last night's deep dive also revealed he's a fully trained pianist and relaxes by playing classical music for hours. You almost want to tell him to fuck off, don't you?

Totally agree about him @Karmaisagod...he's not my usual type but there was something about him watching Bridgerton. I need to get on to season 3!

He was also SUPER nice to fans outside the theatre when he was on stage for A Little Life. People mostly overlooked him as they were waiting for James Norton but he was super lovely to everyone standing there.

Karmaisagod · 18/04/2024 22:53

That's good to know, @XelaM. Earlier I watched a video of Claudia Jessie talking about Eloise's and Penelope's relationship, and he was standing next to her listening really attentively and totally focused on her, and made a little joke at the end. Seems so nice.

Apparently, although it's Colin's turn there is a bit of Benedict action too. I can't wait.

I think the Benedict Series will be one to watch. There is something about the way he is playing the character that is very appealing.

hanka · 17/05/2024 13:42

Also, a little bit of trivia- in the first episode of Bridgerton s3 there’s a lawyer played by Edward Bennett who, 10 years ago, played exactly the same character (Berowne) as Luke Thompson does in the same play, on the same boards in Stratford 😁😁😁
Now Mr Thompson needs to play Benedict in Much Ado About Nothing to get all his comic potential out👏👏👏

Glad I'm not alone, I'm old enough to be his grandma but spent hours "researching " him. It's the twinkle and the impression he's really enjoying himself!

I have to admit, I thought it was Dinah Washington nonsense, but Eartha's older sultriness will do just as well.
