I watched the first episode of this, even thought I dont have Sky, as VM seems to have Sky Max or is it Sky Mix, where they show series.

Anyhow wondered if any has watched any of it. And if so what you thought?

On one level it is so bonkers that it doesn't even work as a satire, although parts of it are really funny.

Lots of other well known faces not just UK tv but european as well.

Seems it is not just on Sky and VM but also Now TV

I have just begun and am really loving Kate Winslet in this. So completely camp. I need to watch further.

I’m on the second episode and enjoying it so far. It’s got some Death of Stalin vibes, though obviously not as good, and it may just be the wonderful Andrea Risborough too. I’m absolutely loving her husband, he’s hilarious.

I did think all the costume design very clever in terms of creating a sense of everyone's status etc., and a sort of mashup of various eastern european styles.

But found it a bit OTT.

However I am recording it so that when I need some escapism and can escape into Kate's mad world.

Should add I think Kate Winslet is very good, and i dont know if was actually her, but her singing just off key was really well done.

I watched the singing through my fingers, that was so deliberately painful, especially her faked "oh, look, darling, they're standing up for me!" She's playing it very well.

The singing was marvellous! I want to avoid spoilers so will hide this until I have gone further.

Watched episode one last night.

I loved it. Camp, daft and funny.

It's a lovely change from all the dark serial killer/child abuser content that seems to be everywhere.

Kate Winslet is having a riot in this role. Brilliant.
But...if she is the chancellor,who on earth is the President?

Some countries just have chancellors in charge, no? Like Angela Merkel.

Yeah,I suppose so. Didnt think of that!

I think this is part of the satire (or whatever its called) a send up of political leaders who become cult figures eg Hitler.

A lot of countries have Presidents we dont really hear about (unlike the US) because that are meant to be above party politics.

Although I think the style of dress is also a dig at some eastern european countries, think Ceaușescu who were virtually dictators, which ended with husband and wife being executed.

But not sure we will see anything like this in a comedy but who knows ...

I am on Episode 5 and am mostly loving it. It's very OTT, but nevertheless Kate reigns supreme. She is just so good! The "tough tits", the yeahs, the anti-American rhetoric.. it's so delightfully bonkers

Yes I have. Didn't like the last two episodes. Went completely off piste and too dark! Hugh Grant was pointless.

Germany does have a president: Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

It was an odd ending. I quite enjoyed it, as a PP said it was nice to watch something that wasn't just about a detective or similar. Good performances. But not entirely sure it hit where it wanted to.

6 episodes I think, proper bonkers, we love it.
