April 13th on BBC4. Really looking forward to it. Just hoping his annoying daughter doesn’t feature much this season!

Yes, it'd be so much better if the storylines didn't feature his daughter... she's so irritating!

tennissquare · 13/04/2024 21:00

Just a reminder that this starts now on BBC4 for anyone struggling to find anything to watch this evening!

duc748 · 14/04/2024 02:06

I just watched the first ep. As with previous series, it seems to me, compared to other Scandi series, Wisting is a bit, well, low-wattage?

Eastie77Returns · 14/04/2024 12:23

I think that’s why I like it. It’s quite understated. I prefer the Scandi thrillers to other ones for that reason.

I really enjoyed Chestnut Man (Danish, on Netflix) which was a bit more high octane.

Currently also watching the Icelandic Valhalla Murders on Netflix.

Both really good but Wisting remains my favourite.

Started watching last night, as we enjoy Wisting, but I thought the Joakim Backer character could stand in for Boris Johnson's double at first glance 😄 .

IwantToRetire · 15/04/2024 01:28

I watched the first 2 episodes and have to say I struggle to stay interested.

And had totally forgotten he had a son.

There must be a whole backstory about his family that I have not remembered.

Eastie77Returns · 19/04/2024 21:34

Every season brings a new revelation about his family. Last season it was about his dead wife.

Hadn't realised it was back! Love Wisting. (books are good too) Agree with @Eastie77Returns that the low key Scandi-ness is what I love. And looking at the houses 😂
The daughter did my head in as much as Cully Fucking Barnaby though

Eastie77Returns · 20/04/2024 18:37

@ASighMadeOfStone I have complete house envy whenever I watch the Scandi shows. A couple of seasons ago an episode of Wisting showed his Summer house somewhere in the countryside. It looked blissful!

The daughter…she has multiple run-ins with dangerous criminals every season and I keep hoping one of them will lead to her timely demise😭

OP posts:
ASighMadeOfStone · 20/04/2024 20:00

😂 me too.
(Both on the wishful thinking about the daughter and the house envy. I'm always having to wind back as I miss the plot because I'm going "oh, I could have plants in the window like that" etc.

Halsall · 20/04/2024 21:23

I see the daughter's still just as much of a numbskull as she’s been in previous series…..

Ha! That is exactly what my husband said!

Oh thank you so much, I had no idea it was back! Looking forward to getting started.

Is Carrie-Anne Moss back?

No to Carrie-Ann Moss but an English speaking family feature to the reduce subtitles!

Thank you! It was always a wee break from the subtitles when Carrie-Anne appeared, good to know that continues.

I need to go and rewatch but as I recall, the way she left it was pretty irreconcilable, despite potential love interest vibes with Wisting.

AnnieSF · 24/04/2024 10:27

I've just realised we saw Series 1 and 2 ! This one was tame by comparison.

Eastie77Returns · 13/09/2024 17:30

Finally got around to watching the latest series. It was a lot less grisly than previous ones. I'm disappointed the awful daughter lives to see another day. The sulky son is just as bad.

Poor Tommy😥

I'm confused by the domestic set up of Hammer. Is the woman he lives with his (ex) wife and the child is his step-daughter? In the previous season the child was about 4 years old and suddenly now she is a grown teenager.

I finally watched the end of the last season tonight, for some reason I'm unclear about; I watched eps 1 to 4 ages ago, and now I notice more are available. It was OK, but didn't change my view that it's second division Scandi really. The lead is a bit of a dull curmudgeon, who typically shags the drunken plot-device, but snubs the much interesting (and hot!) woman. The daughter had at least grown up a bit, the son was just as annoying.

tennissquare · 08/02/2025 08:35

@duc748 , yes it's confusing, on IPlayer series 3 is 2 parts, the 4 episodes about the hotel shown in 2024 and the 4 episodes showing now when Wistling uses a crutch. (I've almost finished it, the actor from Bridgerton features).
On the IMDb app the hotel episodes are called series 4 and the current episodes called series 5!

Halsall · 08/02/2025 09:07

OMG, yes. The daughter is an utter pain, and now she’s pregnant, let’s place our bets on some mild peril involving her going off-piste with her own 'journalistic investigation' ( = ridiculous meddling) resulting in her being kidnapped/captured/injured.

But all will be well and they'll gather round her hospital bed in the sunshine with Wisting beaming happily as she strokes her pregnant stomach.

(I’m possibly getting too cynical…? 😬)

duc748 · 08/02/2025 14:50

Yes, i couldn't make my mind up whether there'd been a delay in transmission, or whether I'd just lost interest in it! Also, the imdb record isn't up to date, and only goes as far as ep #5.

IwantToRetire · 08/02/2025 18:14

I started a new thread about the return resumption of this, as I too was confused.
