Why is Shadrach so upset about baby daniel? They weren't related or anything were they? He wasn't there at the birth? Don't understand why he should be more upset than anyone else in village?

Anyone?

Godfather I think.

JodieG1 · 29/03/2008 09:52

Wasn't he the godfather?

shabster · 29/03/2008 09:54

Think Shadrach was there at the labour - something about him and Laurel being locked in the church hall. He is definitly Godfather.

I have spent the last few weeks blubbing whilst watching Emmerdale. The death of a child, and the following emotions has been very accurately acted out.

lucylala · 29/03/2008 09:57

oh yeah, forgot he was locked in church with her!! ahhh, makes sense now!

Thank you!

Yep he is Godfather and was there during the labour.

This storyline has been very emotional and I agree with you Shabster, the acting has been brilliant.
I hope they get noticed for it.

Nbg - I agree. The actress who plays Laurel must have spoken to many bereaved parents - there is no way she could have known all that goes on in your mind without a lot of research. She is a wonderful actress.

Nbg · 29/03/2008 22:02

She must have.
I think she is a mother in RL but as a mother of 3 myself I couldnt bear to imagine what it would be like to lose a child

I have actually thought before today of writing a letter or sending an email to praise both actors on the story.

shabster · 29/03/2008 23:45

Its a bad situation to be in Nbg - wonder if I googled Emmerdale there may be somewhere there to leave a comment - going to give it a try.

Nbg · 30/03/2008 09:02

I take it you've been there shabster?

shabster · 30/03/2008 09:07

Yes love, unfortunatly twice - different circumstances from the Emmerdale baby - but still heartbreaking bereavement of a baby and a 7 year old

Nbg · 30/03/2008 09:12

Oh dear god shabster.
I'm so sorry

Your brave being able to watch something like this.

shabster · 30/03/2008 09:21

I had read about the upcoming story in the telly mag and I couldn't help myself. I sat in my living room howling and crying - then I watched the repeat Somehow, probably because it was very well done, it made me feel better. It was so true to life - my mum kept ringing me up and all she did was sob over the phone - great help

My DS4 (10yrs) just kept watching me and worrying. He never knew his brothers. We have a 26 yr old and then the 10 yr old. DS4 was born after a massive age gap and certainly kept us all very busy!!

It also made me realise how far we have all come since the early days. I kept saying out loud to Laurel 'It will get better love you have to give it time!' as if it was real and also as if she could even hear me!!

Nbg · 30/03/2008 09:30

at you shouting at the tv.
I can see why you watched it twice though.
Theres not many true to life storylines actors can get right and I've never been through anything like that but you could just feel for Laurel.

I've just read your profile and I'm the same age as your eldest ds and your the same age as my mum

shabster · 30/03/2008 09:31

Oh pigging hell I am only 17 in my head tho

Nbg · 30/03/2008 09:33

lol
Thats what my mum says

Fwiw I suspected I was talking to a 28 year old

shabster · 30/03/2008 09:36

Nbg - I bow down at your feet and hug you

My mum (174yrs - 74) keeps telling me I have to grow up cause I will soon be a grandma. Think I will be looking after my grandson full time and I am going to have so much fun with him - teaching him rugby songs, rude jokes etc etc.

When I say this my DS1 says 'dont even think about it mother'

Nbg · 30/03/2008 10:21

My mum loves being a grandparent.
All them chocolates she sneaks into their mouths when I'm not looking

Respect for looking after the baby full time!

shabster · 30/03/2008 10:33

Until DS1 qualifies as an accountant in Summer 2009 his DP has to go back to work.

I didn't even have to think about it - My DS1 was my reason for living after his brothers died and this is one way I can repay him. He is a joy and his partner is wonderful - see what I mean - there is joy after sorrow - even though it does take a long time

Was quite relieved granbaby is a little lad - girls are scary creatures They know their own mind and can be sooo bossy - sounds like me You would think I had a daughter wouldn't you??

Joking aside I just feel it a great honour to be asked to do full time care - cant wait.

foofi · 30/03/2008 10:35

The other reason Shadrach is upset is because the death of baby Daniel has brought back suppressed memories of him giving up his baby girl for adoption many years ago. He's going to try and find her now.

shabster · 30/03/2008 10:38

You are right foofi - did you see what her name is - Genesis!! The Dingles have great names dont they?

Nbg · 30/03/2008 10:48

Oh i do have a dd too

1 dd and 2 boys
