This Town starts tonight 9PM bbc 1

I neve really got into peaky blinders but it's the same writer.
Period drama set in the early 80s. Part family drama, part political , part music scene.

I liked the band's music, especially the song they did at the end, shame they didn't play more of it. Bardon sounds rather like Terry Hall and I liked the combo with Dante's "rapping".

The one in Birmingham was the alcoholic, I'm assuming the other one was dead at the start (I'm only on episode 2 but am not very observant and don't mind spoilers).

It did come across as a bit of lazy writing to me.

Dante's mum was dead at the start.

Dantes mum must have died when he was young as he asked his aunty what she was like. Assume his memory must have been hazy.

Dante does reference how young he was when his mum died plus his drunk auntie says something about feeling like her mum thought the wrong sister died.

I finally worked that out halfway through episode 3! Told you I was unobservant.
