I live in Happy Valley - AMA

Was just reminded very much so that I live in Happy Valley when I went to a corner shop and a man came in, off his nut kicking off. Prior to this I had seen him huff a ballon and he had several balloons in his car…

My ‘expose’ on happy valley:

I don’t think it’s as rough as Happy Valley depicts but then again parts probably are but I’m not exposed to it.

Some of the routes they take to places are totally inaccurate. They must have filmed on certain roads cos it looks good.

The Sowerby Bridge / Ripponden / Hebden Bridge / Todmorden accents are a bit off although obviously it’s only something a local would pick up on. We do NOT say ‘nowt’ as in ‘spout’ round here we say ‘nowt’ pronouncing the ‘o’ as you would in orange.

This may be a crap ask me anything so if not let’s just chat about Happy Valley. 😂 Rewatching series one and two but NOT WATCHED 3 YET so no spoilers please (yes I ABU haha it’s just the local media hype round here during filming and airing annoyed me abit so I’m watching now the hype has died down)

I’m an old 60’s hippie. Friends discovered Hebden and bought houses there. I loved it then, love it now
happy Valley is spectacularly good tv, the valley, the stone terraces, the fierce moorland aided and abetted by great dialogue, brilliant cast - it’s all fabulous

You're asking for trouble here. There will clearly be spoilers on your thread

Halifax is my home town although I left many, many years ago.

Same here Izzy. Now I live along ‘the valley’. Don’t want to be too outing. 😂 Do you ever visit?

That’s the story of many! Great place and such a well kept town. Only issue is the flooding. I live in a stone terrace (former mill owned houses), you’ve made me feel good now 😜

I did when my parents lived there but they have moved to be near us although it took years to convince them as they were immersed in the local arts scene.

I miss the moors and hills. I don't miss the M62!

IntriguingFactJumble · 27/03/2024 19:27

My niece is getting married there this year and I think surgery will stop me going up. Can you keep an eye on her please? ;)

I don’t even dare drive the M62 Izzy. 😂 Bet you miss the rally driving the experience on the country roads! 😉

It is v beautiful and what’s great is you can be in a suburban area and then walk 2 mins and you’re full on in the countryside.

As you can tell from my user name I live in Happy Valley too. And I would say they are areas as rough as shown in the show!
