We’ve got just over a week to go, so I thought we could start scratching the TM itch.

Anyone fancy joining me to share their top 5 contestants? Feel free to justify your decision.

Ill start.

Sally Philips: What a legend. When she birthed Alex, the Rosalind song in the group task. Her energy, her outfits. Just love her.

Jessica Knappet. She’s just such an awesome human. My dd says i remind her of her - I’ll take that as a huge compliment. She just made the studio sessions so funny, and I love the physicality of her comedy.

Katy Wix: It’s the poise, the creativity, everything she said and also how she said it.

Kiall Smith-Bynoe: Watching him get more and more annoyed in studio only got funnier.

Jamali Maddix: I just loved how he interacted with Greg and Alex. I honestly don’t remember a single good moment of tasking from him, but he made me laugh with almost everything he said.

Looking back at my list, I think my favourites are really informed by the way they were during the studio records.

Anyone else?

Don't know if I can pick favourites but I'm standing by for the new series

Butwhataboutthesealions · 25/03/2024 15:02

Slightly off topic, but Sam Campbell and Lucy Beaumont have a new podcast called Lucy and Sam's Perfect Brains. First episode is this Friday. Looking forward to it.

RosalindsAFuckingNightmare · 25/03/2024 15:30

Checking in 😁
Mike Wozniak was my absolute favourite. Hadn't heard of him before TM, he was brilliant.
Kerry Godliman. But I love her in everything.
Chris Ramsey. He should have won.
Fern Brady, especially her outfits.
Richard Herring. He just seemed so out of his depth!

Daisykath · 25/03/2024 15:38

Mae Martin. I’m a Mae stan anyway and they didn’t let me down! There are so many I loved though. Can’t wait for the new series. 🥰

I’d assumed it was never going to actually happen! Thanks for sharing

Mike Wozniak, like another poster I'd not heard of him.before and now love him. The fart bit had me in stitches.
Sally Phillips, the birth of Alex was hilarious.
Liza Tarbuck, both for making Alex Horne sit on a cake, and the hop task.
Jo Brand and David Baddiel as a team stopping for tea and sandwiches.
Ed Gamble for all round funniness

LawrieForShepherdsBoy · 25/03/2024 15:56

@Daisykath I think Mae is the greatest tasked - was gutted when they didn’t do CoC

murasaki · 25/03/2024 15:56

Actually Kerry Godliman gets a special mention as we still say 'bosh' a lot in this house.

LawrieForShepherdsBoy · 25/03/2024 15:56

Yes! I love Jo and David - they made S9 one of my favourites.

I’m have high hopes for series 17 as all my favourites have been odd numbers: 5, 7, 9, 11 and 15. 2 and 14 are the only even ones that I really like.

So excited

Another fan of the Jo and David double act here.

Loved Jenny Eclair because she threw herself into every task.

Likewise Mel for her good humour and enthusiasm.

Loved Liza Tarbuck's not giving a single fuck attitude and her occasional walking away.

Also enjoyed the Frankie and Ivo double act.

To be fair there are very few I disliked and a couple I thought I disliked until they were on it. :)

YessicaHaircut · 25/03/2024 16:07

Loved Jo & David, stopping to eat their sausage sandwich was one of the funniest TM moments for me. I also really loved the combination of Mel Giedroyc and Hugh “Desky” Dennis together, they have known each other since uni I think and were great together.
Judi Love had some real laugh out loud moments, there was one in the first episode of that season where I was in tears laughing, during the bonus task I think.
Loved Mike Wozniak, Sam Campbell and Liza Tarbuck, agree Sally Phillips was brilliant!
That's far more than 5 but I love it all 😅

LawrieForShepherdsBoy · 25/03/2024 16:29

Frankie and Ivo together were indeed great.

Best series anyone?

I think series five (Bob, Sally, Nish, Mark and Aisling) is the greatest by a mile. But then 7, 9 and 15 too close to call in second place.

SeaAndCakes · 25/03/2024 16:34

Totally agree about the Jo & David sandwich break being one of the funniest moments. Love them!

So difficult to choose just 5 but mine are:

  • Johnny Vegas
  • Daisy May Cooper
  • Victoria Coren Mitchell
  • Ardal O'Hanlon
  • John Kearns

I think my favourites are also informed by the studio and how well I thought the series' contestants got on with each other.

ButtockUp · 25/03/2024 16:53

Top three...
Liza Tarbuck
Sally Phillips
Mike Wozniak

Can't wait for the new series as it'll give me a break from endless repeats .

Chelsea26 · 25/03/2024 16:55

Taskmaster is the best!

If anyone is interested the new (new) series is studio filming in May at Pinewood.

So many great contestants, probably easier to pick ones I didn’t warm to (Mae Martin is topping that list for me, I found her really annoying & she didn’t embrace the spirit of the show).

On the fave side though, these are my immediately recallable choices:

Mawaan Rizwan was someone I hadn’t seen before, but I absolutely loved his take.

Mike Wozniak - only knew him from Man Down but what an absolutely lovely time we all had with him.

Liza Tarbuck. Legend. I want to be her when I grow up.

Kerry Godliman. Also legend. An approach to the tasks that I aim for in life.

Sir Bob of Mortimer. Obviously.

TheLambtonWorm · 25/03/2024 17:16

Taskmaster Stan from day 1. It's so great, it's on a bit of a loop in this house. Can't wait for the new season. I'm not familiar with the 2 women in S17 but the line ups always work so well, the team have such an affinity for picking contestants.

Woz is a fav contestant for me, with Fern Brady, James Acaster, Liza Tarbuck and Keill Smith Bynoe. Bob Mortimer is a legend so is always a given. I never warmed to Mae either, they were a bit dull imo but you could tell how much they were a fan. Kojey Radical deserves to be in a full series too, he was a delight in the NYT episode and knowing he is a huge TM fan it was like one of us being picked 😂

For the Wozniak fans, his podcasts are great if you haven't already given them a listen. St Elswick Neighbourhood Association podcast is fantastic, although ended now. A few TM faces pop up throughout too. And Three Bean Salad is bloody hilarious. Mr Gameshow with Diane Morgan (who I live in hope of getting a TM slot) is also excellent

LawrieForShepherdsBoy · 25/03/2024 17:45

It’s repeated on a loop here as well. Occasionally I get lucky and find half an episode that I’ve only seen once before 😁

Thanks for the Wozniak podcast recommendation, I hadn’t heard of it so will take a look.

I am SO jealous you've not come across it before and get to listen for the first time! It's absolutely glorious. Let us know what you think!

Judi Love : "But how can I kill you with your own shoe?"

mynameiscalypso · 26/03/2024 11:04

Mike Wozniak and Bob Mortimer are my favourites but I also love the Judi Love / Sophie Duker combo. Oh and Rhod Gilbert. And Sue Perkins.

I did not like Joe Thomas or Iain Sterling. Never rewatch them.

I'm not sure about the new series. I don't massively like the people in it but hoping one or two might surprise me.

Did anyone watch? I was a bit meh but I always am on the first episode getting to know them all. I did think Sophie's Gary gorilla task was built up that it was going to be funnier than it actually was though
