Just finished succession. What next?

Help! As per title, we’ve just finished succession. Really enjoyed it and got through it pretty quickly.

we need something really good to follow. We have most (if not all) viewing platforms.

things we’ve recently enjoyed include the morning show, traitors, blackbird, severance and fool me once.

any recommendations?

White lotus

theduchessofspork · 16/03/2024 19:22

You’ve probably have seen them as oldies but The Good Wife and Borgen both spring to mind for a succession fan

Mare of Eastown is a great recent one
seconding white lotus

Dinosaurpoo · 16/03/2024 20:00

thanks both!
@theduchessofspork we loved mare of eastown!

will look at white lotus.

a few mates have suggested the new guy Ritchie series on Netflix. Not sure if I can stomach the violence.

Inventing Anna

CommaChameleon7 · 16/03/2024 20:26

Kin - BBC iPlayer

LassZombie · 16/03/2024 20:37

White lotus is fucking brilliant, it's been my favourite of the last few years along with succession.

AnneKipankitoo · 16/03/2024 20:41

Agree with White Lotus, Mare of Eastown.
There is a Danish thing Riders on the Storm … very adult, thought provoking.

AmaryllisChorus · 16/03/2024 20:44

White Lotus is brilliant.
Slow Horses if you have Apple TV

Have you seen Mad Men? Breaking Bad? Better Call Saul?

XelaM · 16/03/2024 20:45

Line of Duty (BBC iplayer)

It's superb!

Lucy377 · 16/03/2024 20:45

Slow Horses on Apple is supposed to be great. Have signed up for Apple yet.

XelaM · 16/03/2024 20:46

Also... Happy Valley (also BBC iPlayer). Season 1 in particular is an absolute masterpiece.

AnneKipankitoo · 16/03/2024 21:02

The most recent Fargo “The Night Country” with Jodie Foster is great.

Almahart · 16/03/2024 21:04

White Lotus, Slow Horses. The Wire and Madmen if you haven't seen them.

Dinosaurpoo · 16/03/2024 22:00

Thanks all! Have gone in on white lotus and already hooked after episode 1.

so many suggestions that we’ve already seen. So many good tv shows.

@Almahart the wire I think is my fave box set of all time. It was many, many moons ago when we watched it, but it’s unmatched for me.

I’ve made a note of Kin and slow horses for next time.

Second a lot of these. There’s also Veep if you like that kind of fast, funny dialogue and some of the same writers on Succession worked on it.

Shiveringinthecountry · 16/03/2024 22:31

The Americans was brilliant, as was Mare of Eastwood 👍

RefreshingCandour · 17/03/2024 12:16

I much prefer S2 of White Lotus, and it is completely separate from S1.

Also loved Slow Horses. Mare of Eastown is a less good version of Happy Valley IMO.

The Last of Us is a grower and if you like the themes of Succession you could try Billions.

The only other telly that’s come anywhere close to as good as Succession for me was Chernobyl. Harrowing but brilliant.

The Bear!

Watch it again! That's what I did. Was even better second time round and I was really surprised it hadn't dated at all (in 2021)
