Jim from The Office - nice bloke?

Having a debate with DH as he can’t believe that Jim’s character from the American office isn’t one of my favourite characters. I’ve always been more team Dwight! Main reasons for not being a big Jim fan are:

Bullies Dwight, under the guise of pranking.

Makes massive life changing decisions about his career without discussing with Pam first - even though Pam ditched her career plans to be with him. His career decisions leave her home alone with kids.

Doesn’t have a work ethic in Scranton!

Dumps girlfriend on work booze cruise, when she’s his guest and can’t easily just walk away.

Encourages another girlfriend to move to Scranton when he knows he doesn’t love her, so when he finishes it she has to leave her job and new home.

There are some redeeming features too, like how he helps Dwight realise he loves Angela, and how he helps Michael leave Scranton without a fuss and arranges nice things for Dwight’s Batchelor do/wedding.

Am I alone with not being team Jim?

I feel the same OP. I know he's supposed to be likeable but I really hate the way he picks on Dwight. That goes for Pam too.

I agree, I always thought he was sort of smarmy and full of himself. I definitely liked the UK Office's Tim, who seemed sweet if a bit clueless. But US Jim is a bit more selfish or something...

He's a bit of a bully isn't he?
