Disney+ offer £1.99 per month

MarkWithaC · 29/02/2024 15:19

For three months.
I don't think these offers come round very often and I'm tempted to take it, but what's on that's good?
I'm more a TV series than a film person.
I'd love to see The Bear, if they're still showing it (they do not let you look around the site without having paid, so I don't know!)
I also love slick American dramas like Succession and The White Lotus; Eurodramas like The New Look; period guff like Downton and The Buccaneers; good crime like Criminal Record.
Is it worth getting this offer?

The Bear is still on there and likely will stay on asI'm sure it's been renewed for a third season...

At the end of the day, if there's enough on there you want to watch, that's a very decent monthly saving for it!

AnotherDelphinium · 29/02/2024 16:47

Ooh, where is this offer?!

Keroppi · 29/02/2024 17:00

imo the best way to do streaming services is to subscribe when there's something you want to watch and a good offer, then cancel/pause and swap over to something else

the d+ offer is pretty good but i do find the selection pretty poor unless you love disney movies, star wars or marvel

tv series wise there's the new season of criminal minds, the bear, some good true crime docus, percy jackson, mandalorian

personally I've just cancelled mine for now and dropped down to the lowest tier for when i return - £4.99 no ads so not too bad tbf. think its even cheaper with ads? might be confusing the numbers

Keroppi · 29/02/2024 17:02

like i enjoy star wars and some mcu spinoffs but it all gets a bit complex when they all link and reference each other. feels like i have to do background reading for an essay when i just wanna watch a spinoff set in that universe

IwantToRetire · 29/02/2024 17:08

I got an alert about this.

However, I think the offer is only for those already subscribing.

So for instance I imagine I got it because I got the 3 month offer about to expire, so they are trying to keep me.

And I probably will because it turns out Disney has many interesting series, which I certainly wouldn't have realised without taking up the 3 month offer.

MarkWithaC · 29/02/2024 19:08

Thanks all. I can't copy and paste to @ you all, so answers are all below.

I got an email. I didn't realise I was on their mailing list but I guess I must be.

I've signed up for it. The Bear is there!

I think standard price is £4.99 with ads, yes, so it's a good saving.

At a quick look, I haven't see anything much else; I'm not really a Marvel or Star Wars person. I will make an exception though for Loki, because Tom Hiddleston is hot stuff in that role.

So with that and The Bear I think two quid a month is a very good deal!

the bear is soo good. there's the people vs pj simpson which is ok, and all the american horror story anthologies. and some fun trash tv on the hulu/star section
nat geo too
enjoy!!

scaredofff · 29/02/2024 19:18

I hate that you can't look around first it's so annoying
I saw the £1.99 offer through my firestick and thought about taking it too. I love a documentary or docuseries

supermamio · 29/02/2024 19:21

Disney is the best spent money in my house. I watch greys anatomy, station 19, criminal minds, prison break. My partner watched walking dead and all series related to that. Marvel, star wars, bluey, classic disney and pixar for the kids.

IwantToRetire · 29/02/2024 19:37

I was wrong! The email says for NEW subscribers and "eligible" subscribers (who are they?).

Oh yes, I meant to say, I was a new subscriber.

I see they have the new Shogun; I fancy giving that a go. They've also got a few things that I watched a bit of and for various reasons didn't continue, like Lie To Me and Pose.

Yes to The Bear, it's excellent - frantic though! My heart rate was definitely elevated after some episodes.

Also worth watching, Only Murders in the Building - Steve Martin and Martin Short, with Selena Gomez. Quirky, fun, murder mystery.

For 1.99 definitely worth a look.

Goforitagain · 01/03/2024 12:41

Big Sky is good also Revenge is on there

PuppyMonkey · 01/03/2024 12:56

Dopesick
The Dropout
Fleishman is in Trouble
Only Murders in the Building
A Murder at the End of the World
Saint X
Under the Banner of Heaven
Abbot Elementary

plus lots of decent films and all the Marvel stuff if that floats your boat.

PuppyMonkey · 01/03/2024 12:57

Obviously The Bear is amazing - greatest Christmas episode of all time.

11NigelTufnel · 01/03/2024 13:12

Reservation dogs is very good. Plus it is finished, so not left needing to renew to watch more later.

The artful dodger is fun tosh. David Thewlis plays an excellent Fagin.

Renegade Nell looks good, but isn't out until the end of March.

Extraordinary is hilarious.

Loki was terrible. Regret that I will never get those hours of my life back. Shame, as he was great fun in the early Avengers films. I am not a particular marvel fan, so haven't watched all their stuff.

EmailMyHeart · 01/03/2024 13:14

Loved the Sex Pistols miniseries called Pistol.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 01/03/2024 13:16

Only murders in the building

newfriend05 · 01/03/2024 13:18

MarkWithaC · 01/03/2024 14:38

Ooh, do they have Reservation Dogs?!? I've been longing to watch that.

Renegade Nell DOES look good. Sally Wainwright!

3 seasons of reservation dogs.

CherryogDog · 02/03/2024 09:56

For those of you who have Disney+ with ads, how bad are they?
I tried to watch a few films on Prime with ads, the ad breaks were really long and some would start mid scene or mid sentence.
Ditto ITVx, I gave up on Under the Banner of Heaven due to the ads, I watched half an episode, when I went to resume watching I had 5 minutes of ads, then literally a few seconds of the programme, then 8 minutes of ads.

Willmafrockfit · 02/03/2024 19:47

i was considering Murder at the end of the World but might go for the Artful Dodger
