Anyone just watch it . What an evil man . Brutally killed his wife near his children and not an ounce of remorse .

Hope he never gets out of prison following heroic campaigning by her friends and mother .

I was watching it, DH was noodling in the background on his phone, he then put his phone down and sat there slack jawed.

MadamVastra · 26/02/2024 23:34

What's this on then? I mean it's not as if I just watched several episodes of murder in the 21st and need some light hearted entertainment! Don't know why I do it to myself!

PaintedHair · 26/02/2024 23:35

I am just watching the second episode now. What an evil man! And those poor children. How on earth did he not get convicted of murder?!

PaintedHair · 26/02/2024 23:36

It’s on ITV

IAmTheGibby · 26/02/2024 23:39

Just watched both episodes on itvX. That poor family 😥

I can’t believe the jury went with manslaughter. It could hardly have been more premeditated! I hope he spends the next 13 years in prison too. He needs to serve a murder sentence. The judge clearly agreed as he set a high tariff (compared to the usual for manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility) and made the jury sit there for sentencing. I hope they are ashamed and embarrassed at falling for such manipulation.

Janiie · 27/02/2024 19:25

I'm just watching this. How utterly shocking. Wtf was wrong with that jury I hope they are haunted by their verdict for the rest of their lives. Digging a hole, buying a box how much premeditation did they need?!

Poor Jo and her lovely family and friends.

WellThisIsFun1 · 27/02/2024 19:45

I've just started watching it now.

When I'm prime minister it'll be illegal to say 'no comment'...

Janiie · 27/02/2024 19:50

Honestly it is just heartbreaking, tears streamed down my face watching the end scene with Jo's lovely Mum sat by her grave.

I hope he loses his appeal for automatic release this needs to get the same amount of public outrage as the post office scandal. 13 years for a brutal premeditated murder! 'Adjustment disorder', fgs people adjust to divorce all the time without bludgeoning people to death.

How those police interviewers didn't smack him was admirable!

I don't understand how there isn't a penalty to deter people from doing it, so say every 'no comment' adds a month to their sentence if convicted. Just seems such a waste of time while the prisoner gets to see what evidence they have and to get their story straight.

WGACA · 27/02/2024 20:57

Joanna’s mum Diana is just remarkable.

WellThisIsFun1 · 27/02/2024 21:02

Things like this make you wonder whether a jury made up of lay people is a good idea

Yes you'd think potential jurors would have to pass a basic IQ test or similar to ensure they have some capability to assess evidence.

How can one expert say adjustment disorder was evident and another say it wasn't and the juriors just went with the first one despite the clear premeditation of having dug the actual grave. Just shocking,

Pigeonqueen · 27/02/2024 22:07

Watched this today. I just cannot believe how they could possibly think of releasing him, monitored or not!!😳😳 Such a terrible, pre planned crime. So brutal.

ForTheLoveOfGrace · 27/02/2024 22:32

Only seen the first episode so far and I was in tears listening to that poor girl describing what happened to her mummy. Utterly devastating.

On a side note I'm also watching 'the jury: murder trial'. Anyone else watching? On Channel 4.

Description - 'How much can we trust our justice system? This landmark experiment follows the restaging of a real-life murder trial in front of two juries of ordinary people. Will they reach the same verdict?'

It just shows you how out of date the jury
system is are.

thesleepyhoglet · 27/02/2024 23:07

Bastard. I'm so upset watching this. Wonderful grandmother. Horrible, sick jealous man.

I cannot believe he could come out after 13 years. What is the justice? And absolutely it should have been murder.

thesleepyhoglet · 27/02/2024 23:10

Adjustment disorder. This is ridiculous how the defence can claim things like this. He changed the moment he married her. He was after her money and lifestyle from the word go.

DillDanding · 28/02/2024 00:32

What kind of idiots made up that jury?

It was a truly shocking crime.

Jo’s mother is a remarkable woman.

Wishitsnows · 28/02/2024 00:44

Just so sad for her family and children. That was simply murder not manslaughter. 2 women are murdered every week by ‘husbands and partners’ I can’t imagine the thousands at home being abused and beaten. Then we a beaten woman goes to court he will often get let off with a caution as it’s a ‘domestic’. This murderer knew killing his wife would not impact him much and he wouldn’t get much of a sentence.

hattie43 · 28/02/2024 06:27

If I was his second partner and child ( she was pregnant when this happened)
I'd have a change of identity and move far away .
If he can do that to his first family he can do it again. .

Really awful! I was cabin crew at the time, so obviously it was big news. I flew with him but don’t really remember him.

How he could just sit there saying no comment while watching the video of his traumatised daughter! Awful!

Brown has lost his bid to be released.

Thank God. He should never be released .

We can all but hope the parole board see sense. Surely the fact that he doesn't appear to show remorse will count. Surely those sanctimonious poor me comments at the end of the documentary will work against him?

BrightHarvestMoon · 01/03/2024 14:34

hattie43 · 29/02/2024 07:21

GREAT NEWS! 👏

I love Joanna's mother, and her friend Hetti. Such strong bold women.

I have no words to explain what I feel about this vile creature. Is violence and murder against women - by men - ever going to end? 😢
