I was so happy to see series 2 on Friday.

I think it’s very funny but then I love both leads, Jim Howick and Katherine Parkinson.

Me, I just binged series 2 yesterday. I love it, gentle but funny.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/02/2024 06:57

i like it, also like the leads
the christmas special was a bit farcical but i think farcical is generally how it is

Saucery · 05/02/2024 07:00

I like it and glad to see it back. They’ve ever so slightly slowed down the rate of dialogue this series, which makes it easier to follow.
The only thing I didn’t like about the first series was the drunk driving scene.

grafittiartist · 05/02/2024 07:03

I love this too! So happy to Friday to discover a series 2!
Have you all seen the pilot episode- filled/ set in lockdown? It's on YouTube.

Saucery · 05/02/2024 07:05

Is that the one where they go on their ‘big holiday’ to Kent or is that just the first of series 1?

grafittiartist · 05/02/2024 07:10

That's the one- maybe it's just in series one.

sashagabadon · 05/02/2024 07:13

Yes it’s v funny. Reminds me of Mum in a good way. Even house is the same!

EffortlessDistraction · 05/02/2024 07:15

We'd never heard of it before Friday but are Jim Howick fans so we watched, ended up watching 4 episodes back to back, very funny and well observed.

That's the one- maybe it's just in series one.

iPlayer automatically started on that one and we hadn’t seen it before, so maybe they’ve added it to the beginning.

SecondUsername4me · 05/02/2024 07:38

Spotted this the other day - love Jim Howick in Ghosts so I've given it a whirl. I quite like it, it's a tad chaotic and I could do without the Cherry character but on the whole it's a good show.

EffortlessDistraction · 05/02/2024 09:10

I think Cherry's brilliant!

lovescats3 · 05/02/2024 09:25

Yes it's great

usernother · 05/02/2024 09:26

Yes, I love it.

sashagabadon · 05/02/2024 11:14

I also like Cherry. Robin wouldn’t be as funny without her as his sidekick

sashagabadon · 05/02/2024 11:18

The only thing I am unsure of is the time jumps but they do make sense and perhaps it wouldn’t work as well in a linear time line. So you have things happening in the first 10 mins that get explained in the last 10 mins of the show. I do kind of like that ( it is unusual anyway) and it works . I’ve talked myself into it now 🤣

MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/02/2024 11:32

which one is Cherry

Mothership4two · 05/02/2024 13:36

I watched the first ever episode and it didn't grab me as I found the set-up irritating (last day voucher). Am I missing something? Does it get better? I like most of the actors in it and it was well acted. If every episode has the same sort of contrived situation then it's probably not for me.

The girlfriend of the brother. Actually, the brother annoys me too Grin maybe it's more their relationship dynamic.

Every single one has some batshit situation, involving them all needing to race somewhere or use something up or try and make the most of a pissing down trip to a field. Maybe try a second episode and see how you get on.

For me, it's a good "background" show. So I'll have it on while I'm cooking or folding laundry.

The brother is played by Tom Basden, the creator and writer of the show. He also co-wrote Plebs. I have a little crush on him.

It has an alternate title, Pandemonium, so that does give you an idea of the storylines. 😁

To be fair though most sitcoms have some ridiculous / implausible / unlikely scenario that involves misunderstandings and farce and regular characters doing things their character always does and people popping in and out etc etc
it’s why people love them!

Wupity · 05/02/2024 17:06

I love this show. For some reason this series I can’t help looking at the house and thinking how lovely it is.

Mothership4two · 05/02/2024 18:40

I understand what makes comedies or sitcoms can have implausible and silly plots and am a fan of a lot them. Loved Henpocalypse! which was as daft as a brush. I'm not keen on farces so maybe it was just too farcical for me? I remember getting irritated at Clockwise. The stealing of a random dog was a step to far for me! I asked the question wondering whether to give it another go - which I will.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/02/2024 21:19

Episode one series two really funny, love the daughter and the brother with the black eyes😃
