i was giong to start a thread!!

it is sad in a way and a shame as well from a womens point of view as he was goegeous as a man but then i think is attractive now.

typical of the army to shun a man who gave his life to them.

southeastastra · 20/03/2008 22:56

mil lent me a book by a man that was featured on a tv series in the 70s for a sex change, trying to remember the name. she was a pottery teacher

JingleyJen · 20/03/2008 22:57

I find it sad, I thought that there was alot of counselling that usually happened before these decisions were taken and I don't think I have heard them say that she has had any?

bethoo · 20/03/2008 22:57

bless her, i will be her friend

Piffle · 20/03/2008 22:57

wish he had not sought the tabloid aspect and been more private. Screams of insecurity bless him

bethoo · 20/03/2008 22:58

i think that is why she went to Thailand as they are not quite as stringent with things like that. if doing it in the uk she would have had to dress as a woman for years, then had councelling before taking hormones etc,

Pinkchampagne · 20/03/2008 22:58

I agree that he was a very attractive man! Didn't look feminine at all before he turned into Jan, did he?

I was thinking that too, piffle. He/she seems very messed up.

it is sad. Oh could weep for him and laugh for him at the same time

Piffle · 20/03/2008 23:01

think he had expectations (unrealistic) of rachel and morag too.

bethoo · 20/03/2008 23:04

i really felt for her as she had no one wiht her the whole time and it was very sad that the inly person she called for was the journalist doing the documentary.

i really do hope for the best for her. to be honest she is the most female looking transexual i have ever seen. she looks good.

pinkbubble · 20/03/2008 23:07

I am watching it now!

Pinkchampagne · 20/03/2008 23:11

Morag seemed very uncomfortable when they met up. She didn't look happy at all.

Not sure what to say at the mo!

I thought it was very sad,
I know 2 ladies at DH's work who were born men and although the UK system is long and drawn out it certainly ensures you have built up a support network by the time you are going through major surgery.
It didn't however solve alot of the issues that these ladies thought were caused by being the wrong gender.

I hope Jan has found love and support since the filming of the program.

bluesky · 21/03/2008 17:33

I thought it was ever so sad, she is so lonely now. Having been in the army he was used to be within a group, having people around him, comrades etc, had had a long 20 year marriage and now has lost colleagues, family, wife and girlfriend.

I agree with PC, Morag did seem very uncomfortable, but you never know with documentary editing.
