What an insane story

Yes watching. And whats so bad is what this girl did makes it so much harder for true victims to come forward and be believed.

I watched this on BBCiplayer last week, unless there is another one? A very disturbed young woman it really makes you wonder what must have happened to her to result in her being this way. No sane person beats themselves with a hammer for attention. I read up on it a bit after watching and a few professionals who interviewed her agreed that she had suffered trauma in childhood. I also read that her family kept and spent the money raised via the Gofund me and were in on the facade. Apparently their car was burnt out, windows put through etc.

The part where the police come to her home and she's pretending someone had just attacked her and she is intoxicated when she had been seen on CCTV walking fine etc and got a lift home from her brothers partner not even an hour before! I just can't comprehend how someone could do that and she was honestly very convincing!

She's going to need a new identity when she's eventually released. It would be impossible to reintegrate where she was living. Such a disturbing case.

I watched this last week. I don't think it was on iplayer, it was on BBC1 I think. This is a repeat - I think. But yes @veryvanessa it is absolutely horrific. This young woman is extremely unhinged and clearly not right in the head. I can't believe what she put these men through.

Even when she started to be called out, she still carried on, beating herself up, and whacking herself in the face with a hammer - so she could say Pakistani men had hurt her.

These men and their families were driven out of town, their businesses ruined, and their lives ruined, and she has no remorse. She got eight and a half years in jail. I reckon she will still be doing it when she comes out. Physically attacking herself and blaming men for doing it.

Watching the show it looks like her dad left when she was little, and her mum paid her no attention and pissed off out all the time leaving her alone.

No excuse of course, but it looks like she got no love and attention as a child, and this is a bizarre and out-of-control cry for help, and an extreme form of Munchhausen's syndrome.

But yeah, those poor men. I hope they are OK.

But then the judge said she wasn't mentally ill.

All in all it just goes to show not to believe everything you first read

@veryvanessa i read that she was deemed not mentally ill as she refused to engage with any male professionals, how true that is I'm not sure.

I should add that when I said professionals had concluded she suffered childhood trauma, those interviews were with females after her sentencing.

I just watched it bizarre and horrific.

It reminded me of the Emmett Till case.

Clearly Ellie Williams has a hatred of Asian Men!

@Charlize43 i am not sure it's specific to Asian males, as she also accused her ex partner who wasn't Asian. I think she just seen all the media coverage around the Asian grooming gangs and that's where she got it from. Very messed up individual.
