Just discovered this is available on Prime via Freevee. Never seen it on a streaming service before.
Loving being back in Cecily!

It’s only coming up as available to buy for me ☹️ Are you in England?

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 14/01/2024 13:42

Yes I’m England.
Try looking at the Prime live TV channels. Only downside is you can’t start at the beginning.

I used to love NE. Cracking show, so many great characters.

sawnotseen · 15/01/2024 17:36

Loved that show. Fancied Ed in 1990. I then meet my bf who kinda looked like him and is Canadian!

sawnotseen · 15/01/2024 17:38

We were together 22 years and had two lovely kids in the 2000s. Still friends.

I adore Northern Exposure.
I wanted to move there when I was young. I remember trying to find it in an Atlas in the library, but it's not a real place, I was gutted.
Ed and Marilyn are my favourite.

duc748 · 15/01/2024 23:12

It looked so beautiful! IIRC, it was filmed in Washington State, rather than Alaska.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 19/01/2024 17:43

It hasn’t dated that much IMO, probably because I’ve never been to Alaska!

Yes, it was filmed in Roslyn, near Seattle. Facts like this are ingrained in my head after reading far too many interviews with the cast. Love spotting them in other roles.

I was loopy about Fleischman. Found it on the Prime channels recently and the feelings came flooding back. Poor DH 🤣.

I didn't find it dated, maybe because it didn't often focus on actual current events. Cicely was a timeless place.

Ohyoudodoyou · 19/01/2024 18:03

Oh I loved this! Such happy times for me - Chris in the Morning, he was gorgeous long before he was in SATC.
Same stable as the sopranos and mad men writers I believe.

Oh that's sweet! This '90's boys were the best, I had a fling with a gorgeous Evan Dando look-alike...Northern Exposure reminds me of pulling out the sofa bed and eating Ben and Jerry's whilst watching it on a portable tv with gorgeous boyfriends (there were a few..)

duc748 · 19/01/2024 18:09

Fleischman and O'Connell were certainly a 'great chemistry' couple! All the characters were great, though. Some TV characters are so strong, they stay with you forever. For me, Andy Sipowicz of NYPD Blue another example.

diddl · 20/01/2024 19:31

I loved it-especially Chris!

Wonder now if the best thing about it would be the theme!

PermanentTemporary · 20/01/2024 19:34

Oh I loved it. My life felt messy back then. I lived in a shithole with 4 flatmates and earned 8k a year doing a job that felt wrong, and my boyfriend didn't really want to be with me. But for an hour a week I felt totally at peace watching NE and I had hope I would have a life that was as purposeful one day.

LlynTegid · 20/01/2024 20:52

Loved the title sequence!

Lookatyounowlookatme · 14/03/2024 00:24

I was just thinking about this today! No idea why
I was early teens watching this and it makes me feel so nostalgic thinking about it. I also wanted to live there and imagined I would when older, amongst many other places. Aww seems like yesterday in many ways. I loved Chris the Dj, such a cool guy. I can’t find it on Prime 🙁not in U.K. though

Haggisfish3 · 14/03/2024 00:31

Oooh I loved this too!

Lookatyounowlookatme · 14/03/2024 00:33

It reminds me of feeling young and safe but excited for the future. Used to watch it on my tv in my bedroom, that and Twin Peaks

Me too. Started a fascination with moose for me. DH took me to Sweden just so that I could see moose and we stayed at a moose sanctuary for a week where you can actually hug the moose. I was in heaven!

CharlotteStreetW1 · 23/03/2024 16:17

Absolutely my favourite ever TV series. Looking forward to having the house to myself so I can binge watch.

In the meantime, I recently resurrected a CD player and this has been in ever since.
