Did anyone watch this yesterday (still online).

Wondered what you thought.

Sort of Agatha Christie homage.

Starring Mischa Barton

I saw it advertised and have made a mental note to watch it. Was it good and worth watching?

BoredofBlonde · 24/12/2023 22:53

Just watching it now. Ok so far

jellymaker · 24/12/2023 23:00

I thought it was complete nonsense. Murder mysteries expect you to suspend belief but not that much. I just kept thinking " oh give over ".

mum2jakie · 24/12/2023 23:08

I've only heard of Mischa Barton since she was in Neighbours. Hope she's a better actress in this than she was in Neighbours! Have got this sky plussed for later this week.

TwentyThreeFifteen · 24/12/2023 23:22

Oh that’s disappointing jelly. I will keep it down loon the ‘to watch’ list then and choose other stuff first.

Doodgreen12 · 24/12/2023 23:44

I watched it tonight and wasn’t really very interested - normally I absolutely love this sort of thing . Not the best so feel 🥴

IwantToRetire · 25/12/2023 00:23

Well I didn't want to post an spoilers, but wasn't sure if it was meant to be a send up, or it was meant to be serious.

And I dont really know Mischa Barton but thought she wasn't at all convincing. But then maybe it was the script.

But should add I fell asleep towards the end, so maybe the conclusion was so well done I would be able to forgive its earlier nonsense!

I was looking forward to it as enjoyable "nonsense", lots of nice scenery and costumes. So wasn't sure if was just me getting old and grumpy.

Poor Agatha, I think she would be quite pained by it. :)

I have never seen her in Neighbours, so only going on this - she is an AWFUL actress. More wooden than an oak tree.

Have watched half, but not sure I am at all interested in what happens, can't take to any of the characters.

Will try tonight if I cant sleep 😁, hope there are a few twists. Am thinking that either the American guy IS actually the house owner, or one of the staff, is the twist. Not a spoiler as I have no idea.

Flibbertigibbettytoes · 25/12/2023 21:30

It was very Channel 5 - pretty laughablly bad but to the point of funny.

Davros · 25/12/2023 22:43

Nice sets, costumes etc. boring

Flibbertigibbettytoes · 25/12/2023 22:47

I don't know about nice costumes, the blouses the female lead was given were so ugly I thought it was going to be a plot point 😅

Davros · 26/12/2023 11:30

Ok, I admit I only really noticed the wallpaper Blush

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 26/12/2023 11:49

It was dire and I struggled with everything, from the set dressing (not sure I will ever get over how awful the bedspreads were) to the amateur acting. I don't mind a cheesy drama but this was really off and looked like a desperate schedule filler of a programme.

IwantToRetire · 26/12/2023 21:57

Well I made the effort to re-watch the last hour, and coming into it like that it seemed even worse.

And no the ending didn't justify the whole thing.

I wonder how it got made?

As i said up thread I dont know the actress playing the lead, but is she thought to be enough of an audience grabber that they thought this will get lots of viewers.

(As an aside have just watched a Sky - I think - original called the Heist before Christmas and it too bordered on the how did this get made. But maybe the Irish making cliched jokes about the Irish is okay. With Timothy Spall and James Nesbitt. No glamorous settings here!)

Watched half an hour of this tonight. Absolutely shite. Confirmed that Mischa Barton really is a terrible actor and it isn't just dodgy Neighbours script writing!

I also have the Heist Before Christmas recorded but might end up deleting that too!

Hopefully the new Agatha Christie adaptation (Murder is Easy) will be worth the wait.

IwantToRetire · 26/12/2023 22:31

I'd give the Heist before Christmas a go. I did a laughe at some of the humour, and it's only because some of it is using cliches about the Irish that I wondered what others thought. But it is totally different to the AC rip off.

Silly fun with a bit of a serious story line about the true meaning of Christmas.

And I didn't recognise Timothy Spall at all and looked up to see who it was as he was a really interesting character.

Lots of nods towards current dilemas so not drowning in faux past times cliches.

And has a really strong central female character.
