Got it on sky plus

Hate the term pramface its worse than chav

liahgen · 14/03/2008 17:39

very sad that all the girls were looking for someone to love and be a "proper family"

Pinkchampagne · 14/03/2008 17:40

I thought that too, liahgen.

Oh yes.

I found it very interesting but also just so sad. It just seems that for at least 3 of those girls their lives are completely topsy-turvy.

The girl who said when she met her boyfriend they had so much in common because "we both liked Jack Daniels and Guns'n'Roses"

liahgen · 14/03/2008 17:42

as a Doula, i was looking at the births with my Doula hat on, dh thinks I'm mad. Only one of the babies delivered onto mum. The others were all givento someone else to hold first.

Get the fab birth partneres aswell.

"stop whinging and sit down and do as you are told!!"

claricebeansmum · 14/03/2008 17:42

Agree liahgen - they were looking for love and trying to create something that they did not seem to have ever had...

Did you see all those babyclothes that one girl had???

liahgen · 14/03/2008 17:43

I was one of those girls, many yeras ago. Fortunately mother nature stepped in. My first child wasn't born until I was 27

sweetkitty · 14/03/2008 17:43

I agree all very sad.

liahgen · 14/03/2008 17:44

obviously I can't spell today!!

claricebeansmum · 14/03/2008 17:44

They were all so young too. I just looked at them and thought they were children themselves really. Very sad and yet they were so strong and determined to give their babies the best.

liahgen · 14/03/2008 17:45

the mother
"who knew from the age of 12 that her daughter would be a gymslip mum" or words to that effect.

Teach her right from bloody wrong then woman!!

Pinkchampagne · 14/03/2008 17:46

Yes I picked up on that one, CBM! "We have so much in common because we both like Jack Daniels & sweet child o mine by Guns & Roses!"

The other shocking bit was where the girl phoned the father to tell him their baby had been born, and his first words were something revolving around the size of the baby's "chopper"!

OP posts:
claricebeansmum · 14/03/2008 17:48

Yes - the apathy of that mother was amazing.

I was also slightly taken aback their haphazard attitude to contraception...I am sure there was one who thought she would be protected by the pill even though she had stopped taking it.

at chopper comment. Thinking OMG what chance does that baby have with father like that...

Pinkchampagne · 14/03/2008 17:49

Yes, she thought she would still be covered a year after stopping the pill!!

OP posts:
claricebeansmum · 14/03/2008 17:50

How does that happen? How did she not know?
Bit flabbergasted at that.

Pinkchampagne · 14/03/2008 18:21

I know, I couldn't believe she didn't realise that she didn't know the basics of contraception. They didn't know how to put a condom on either, so obviously hadn't had much in the way of sex education.

also noticed that babies not delivered onto mum anD no skin to skin contact to regulAte babys heart beat and temperature and encourage bonding and breast feeding (if they chose to feed baby this way).

Also noticed babies given to grandparents while mum ON THE PHONE!!
Then mum holding baby loosely while on the bloody phone!

That annoyed me.

mamhaf · 14/03/2008 20:48

Twas a good programme to watch with my own dds (12 and 15)...two shocked faces.

Very poignant programme, the 17 yo who'd been in care was so mature, and actually seemed to have found some happiness.

LynetteScavo · 14/03/2008 21:02

I agree, the 17 year old was very mature.... I was nothing like that at 17!

I was also at the babies being bottle fed. I was offered a bottle for my first baby, "just in case" I couldn't breast feed. That was 9 years ago, and I would have thought more effort was put into encouraging BF these days, but maybe not.

princessosyth · 14/03/2008 21:06

If it hadn't been called pramface I would have had no idea that they were teenagers, they all seemed and looked much older.

Lynette, perhaps they were encouraged to bf but just did not want to.

Jackdoll · 29/03/2008 12:14

Have been reading your comments will you be watching pramface mansion now called young mums mansion. Will probably be the same type of thing mothers who do not have a clue as they are too young but I do not see what they expect to get out of this type of program it never makes them look good and from some of the past messages on the subject they sound like they either regret it already or are dreading it being shown which wont be long now
