How to get back into Eastenders?

I used to watch this religiously until my life suddenly became full on and I didn't have time for tv anymore. So now I’m almost a year behind and while Iplayer has held my place I don’t have time to catch up on a years worth.
Can I start watching again and be able to follow the stories or has too much changed? Christmas isn’t Christmas without watching eastenders in the evening!

I'd say give a go, watch it for a week then Google for any backstories you don't understand?

This was me a few weeks ago. Hadn't watched for years. I watched last two weeks on iplayer then started watching the live episodes once I'd caught up with that.

I don't feel like I've missed much. There are a few new characters but you can work things out quickly

Did the one-off Google to see where Max Branning was, but that's it

Option A - thank the maker that you've been able to shake off this rubbish seriously entertaining TV, and go and do something more enriching.

Option B - Google what you've missed, or just jump right back in as it won't take more than a couple of seconds to immerse into the despair of that which is Deadenders Eastenders.

I started watching again earlier this year after a couple of years break and soon caught up on what was going on. This year's Christmas episode is looking to be a good one with people speculating all year about what is going to happen.

There are a couple of good EE threads on here where you can talk about the episodes and ask questions about the characters and storylines that you have missed.

You need to watch the Christmas Corpse episode! Flashforward to Christmas in The Vic - a man lies dead on the floor with pretty much all of the female cast looking at the body. Sharon is wearing a wedding dress...duff duff duff...

Interestingly I have just started watching it again myself too cos I am putting off something else. I watched it from Monday of last week and had not watched since before covid and surprised to see how many old castmembers are back. Sharon looks amazing.
