I have always liked his comedy creations and have seen him live. Of course, he was amazing (and terrifying) in 'The Reckoning' as Jimmy savile. I also liked his portrayal as Tony Wilson in 24 hour party people. And to a lesser extent as Paul Raymond (forgot the name of the film).
However I think he could play Nigel Farage and Nicolas Hoogstraten (if ever there was a biopic about either of them). Both men are quite Partridge-esque. Yet they are also generally unpleasant (more so in Hoogstraten's case).
