Thank you- I missed a bit at the start- for some reason, I though he was on some kind of day trip, and thought he was being an arse for not just coming back when she needed him when she first told him about the appointment (and he made a fuss about strangers and foster carers).

He was spending an awful lot of time in that school stairwell airport. Hours and hours between all the drama at home unfolding to speaking to his wife on the phone post op.
