So I’ve been meaning to post this for a while…but on the other threads, there’s been criticism of the booing ‘ban’ and the pussy footing of the interviews with AJ and Will.
however - I think it’s the right thing to do.
Im a huge BB fan and have actually gone back to watch seasons I didnt watch at the time. Davina (and to a lesser extent Emma) did indeed give them a bit of a pasting. But looking back - it was fucking horrible. To be jeered at and then have a frosty and harsh reception and often a character assassination from the national treasure presenter…all because they were a bit two-faced a few times or bonked a bloke in a jacuzzi (The Makosi interview was shameful, Davina ought to be horrified at her behaviour especially when she fawned over Anthony). It’s a barbaric way to treat people especially when they’ve done nothing to you personally or anyone you love.
When you look at what has happened with ITV contestants and of course Caroline Flack, I think we really need to discourage the baying-mob attitude and instead approach the exits and interviews with a bit of perspective. Paul and Chanelle have behaved like twats and whilst it’s easy to get riled up in the midst of a great series, really to me it’s not big enough of a deal in the grand scheme of things. On that note - I hope everyone gets a good reception. Times have changed, people’s sensibilities have changed and it’s really not OK for regular people who have been a bit bitchy (rather than say strangled kittens or pissed on war memorials or things that are Actually Bad) to be national hate figures.
Thats my two pence anyway!
