Wolf - did anyone see this?

Just wondering. DH and I have got half way through the second episode and stopped. He says it's just too unpleasant and nasty and I can't watch it without company! Yes, very unpleasant.

Is Mo Hayden usually like this?
Is anyone familiar with the author (I'm not), and if so, have they seen this realisation and how accurate would you say it was? Is it easier to read than to watch?

Did anyone watch the whole thing?

Has anyone seen it? What did you think of it?

I watched it, thought it was very odd and a bit twisted but I got invested and wanted to see the end. Never read the books so can't compare.

lanawinters · 03/11/2023 21:59

Yes - I watched it, but knew it was an adaptation of a Mo Hayder book so knew that the content would be gory. I didn't think it was great to be honest so don't feel like you'll be missing anything if you go watch something less boring instead 😁

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/11/2023 21:59

I gave up on it quickly too.

GMH1974 · 03/11/2023 22:00

I thought it was horrible and gave up after episode 2.

Cauliflowercheeses · 03/11/2023 22:41

I thought it was the best thing watched in ages! The actor that plays the detective was brilliant. Can’t really remeber much now but I do know I had the exact same dilemma as I was worried it was unsettling me. Maybe watch it in daytime!

queenofthewild · 04/11/2023 16:43

It definitely got less gruesome as the series went on. I found the first two episodes a bit too blood thirsty, but ultimately enjoyed the series as the characters developed.

CP1978 · 04/11/2023 16:46

We absolutely loved it. Yes it scared me but had good twists! It doesn't really get any more gory..I'd say its just quite unsettling! The 2 young guys who have gone to the families house are absolutely brilliant, I stuck with it just because of them!

Jux · 04/11/2023 17:46

Thank you all. I think I'll try episode 2 again - the two not-policemen ARE brilliant aren't they, and I love Juliet Stephenson whatever she does. But if I can't get through it I won't worry too much (but might try a Mo book just to see).

I shall look at your thread now - couldn't find one when I was starting this one. The search here is crap, lerhaps better if you have Prime but I don't.

Utterly bizarre but worth keeping with!

Shinyandnew1 · 04/11/2023 18:00

Absolutely brilliant really enjoyed it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/11/2023 18:06

We thought it was horrible, couldn’t tell if it was dark comedy or just plain weird. Not at all invested in the characters so we gave up after 2 or 3 episodes.

Hallionflossie · 04/11/2023 19:43

I also gave up at the second episode, too unpleasant.

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 05/11/2023 08:55

I wanted to give up after episode one and I'm usually a fan of slightly darker shows.

However DD wanted to carry in and wanted to watch it with me.

So, so glad I carried on. It's one of the best things I've seen in years on sky channel.
