Gardener's World. Plastic grass - it is complicated.

Says Monty (20 October episode). No, it really isn't! Stop sitting on the fence. Argh!

It's plastic. Even according to your programme; it stops natural drainage, the soil under it is a desert for microorganisms, it burns pets paws in the summer heat, it increases the micro plastics entering the sea, it contributes to the heat island effect in cities, it may effect our hormones negatively. It isn't even necessary. There are plenty of alternatives; clover, tougher grass varieties, gravel etc.

But, someone makes his living out of it (note- other livings are available), and someone else likes their kids to play table tennis on it.

I noticed that OP. I think he was trying to not upset any viewers.

@Lalgarh that's very sad.

@SusieSussex I understand that but it REALLY upset this viewer 😂

@Tatami Glad I wasn't the only one annoyed by it. I was recently watching some old episodes of Love Your Garden and even Alan Titchmarsh used it in a couple of gardens.

Very sad to hear about Nellie - RIP Nellie 😥

Another one swearing at the telly. It was such a weasle-wordy segment. That they didn't actually need to do, so what was the point?!

Poor Nellie!

HarleyStreetHeathen · 23/10/2023 16:18

I agree but I'm not sure it was Monty's opinion- it's the BBC after all and they have to be "impartial " don't they?

So sad about Nellie 💔
