Please help me remember what show this was before I drive myself mad.

I can half-remember a scene from some show and it's driving me mad. I think it was hospital based and a man needed to take a drugs test but he was going to fail. I feel like he was a recovering addict or a doctor who took drugs at the weekend or something... anyway, he would have lost his job. And I think the whole episode he kept trying to avoid it or maybe get someone to take it for him, but in the end he went into to the bathroom to do it and his friend was hiding in the stall standing up on the the toilet seat to take it for him.

Is this ringing any bells for anyone? I feel like it was maybe Scrubs or ER or something...

I was wondering about Carter on ER. Not sure the toilet bit fits but it all unravelled when they made him take his watch off and the marks were under his watch strap.

Holby? There was an episode like you describe with Kian, the Canadian opera singer actor. Can't say I remember someone in the next stall standing up to take it for him though.

Was it something much more recent? I have a feeling this happened in Code Black. I don't remember Carter getting someone to cover for him in ER.

It's not carter in ER. He definitely didn't have anyone cover for him or even have urine dips really. I suspect it's more likely to be something like Bodies or House.
Do you vaguely remember when it was, did it look old etc? The episodes where carter was into drugs are very old looking.

No, it's not Carter, I don't think, I watched ER so many times I think I would remember if it was him. I thought it might be Clemente from later seasons, but Google showed nothing.

House, I have seen a couple of episodes of. Isn't he a drug addict? That might be it... off to google, see if I can find the episode!

It's House!! I must have seen it, years ago - when I googled it, the episode came up (season 6, ep 1) and I read the description and remembered.
