i've worked in call centres.

i'm always amazed that a company charges you money to phone customer service here.

that trips me out.

i don't really like call centres in india because my accent throws them off and so does DH's scottish one.

and i'm paying money to get nowhere.

oh, i got yelled at a lot. the call would come on and they'd already be shouting and swearing.

we used to get stoned on our breaks, though.

Also don't press any buttons for any options and you may get to a human

ffs, why do they keep trying to outsource these centres!

i have an N Irish pal who has a hard enough time sometimes communicating with centres in S. England.

but it will be free and I just put the phone on speaker

Also ring the SALES number and they will answer or the business customer option

I agree it is really stupid to send us out of UK cos they really don't "get us" IMHO anyway

Poor DH once had to phone Sky.

He has a very strong Eastern Scottish accent and of course, the call centre was in India.

It was hopeless.

He then pressed the wrong option and somehow got through to a call centre in Belfast.

Boy was he pleased!

When I was with TISCALI I was ringing INDIA on an almost daily basis

It was sooooooooooo stupid cos they just kept taking me thru the screens in front of them

ie do this then this and then this etc etc etc

It turned out they hadn't given me the correct connection thingy and I am soooooooo glad to have left them

I had to ring Scottish Amicable once, adn got through to someone in India. I couldn't understand her,a nd she couldn't understand me. She reatedly mispronounced my surname, despite me telling her how to say it, and then she said , "oh you live in Fee Fee". At that point i put the phone down. Fee Fee indeed - Fife was what she meant

I'm blaming it on the hormones - but I nearly cried when those call centre workers in SA were told they'd be getting a 1000 rand voucher to buy their "professional" clothes - some of them just looked so stunned at the prospect of that sort amount to spend
