Made about 10 years ago and starring Jason Isaacs and Amanda Abbingdon set in Edinburgh.

Based on books about Jason Brodie by Kate Atkinson.

Does anyone remember watching it at the time, or has watched it recently. If so wondered what you thought.

I watched it on PBS in the US. I didn't know Jason Isaacs, back then, except as Lucious Malfoy. I absolutely fell in love with him. I thought the stories were really good; taut and surprising. But, Jason Isaacs was the centerpiece. He really inhabited the role.

I can't remember much about it except for JI was gorgeous and matched how I thought Jackson Brodie looked would look when I read the books.

Thanks for your replies. Though hadn't really thought of it in terms of JL's looks!

I'm might wait a bit to see if anyone is prompted to watch it now, because what I wanted to say / ask is a bit of a spoiler.

But generally thought it was good, at least up to if not better than currentl series being churned out by main stream tv.

I think you're safe enough with whatever you want to ask @IwantToRetire because it is quite old!

Okay - it was just in case, that like me, they found it on UKTV and thought they might watch.

So just wante to have a bit of a moan.

When I watched it, I was taken up with the plot lines that criss crossed, and family issues and so on.

But ... by the end of series 1 and worse still in series 2, I kept thinking this must have been made in 80s or 90s.

Irrespective of how much the male lead may or may not be attractive (2 votes so far!), it just got really silly with all these intelligent women flinging themselves at him, some of whom he then got involved with, but all the time he was messing up with his wife and child as well as an old colleague he eventually realised was "the one".

Then just when they could get together with "the one", he does the "noble" thing and says we shouldn't get involved because who I am will damage your reputation, so sorry to string you along again, but good bye!

Quite honestly why his secretary didn't strangle him, I just dont know.

Just hard to believe it is only 10 years old, as the whole set up was more like something from the last century.

I mean the whole lone male with a whole gaggle of women desparately trying to please him.

Interesting. You are right, it does seem a little like a throwback. But, I would like to be one of those women who threw herself at JI. DH might have something to say about it but...
