Kevin looks good in a suit, strolling casually with hands in pockets

i don't mind cos i didn't see this one first time round

pattymc · 05/03/2008 21:08

what are those bricks all about!

OP posts:
Carmenere · 05/03/2008 21:08

Yes in theory I agree but I didn't see this one so I'm happy

pattymc · 05/03/2008 21:09

actually neither have we so really shouldn't be complaining

yogabird · 05/03/2008 21:11

first it's too big, now it's too small...! No i mean the other way around, obviously!

expatinscotland · 05/03/2008 21:11

i'm sick of seeing nothing but shows about people with seemingly endless piles of money.

they're never very original or interesting.

the ones last week were FAB!

soooo creative and resourceful.

yogabird · 05/03/2008 21:15

i agree expat and if i see another enormous empty modern box i think i shall scream!

expatinscotland · 05/03/2008 21:15

i can't stand moaners, either.

the second the people start to moan, i turn it off.

woodenchair · 05/03/2008 21:17

yogibird, you'll hate it then! I pass this house when I drive to work. Since the program it's had an extra box extention on the side.

expatinscotland · 05/03/2008 21:19

they attached a box onto that cottage?

yeah, i turned it off.

the woman's voice sounded like nails on a chalkboard.

time to change the channel.

pattymc · 05/03/2008 21:21

boo hoo

OP posts:
woodenchair · 05/03/2008 21:21

no, after they demolishd the cottage rather than restoring it, they built a large wooden box.
It only had 2 bedrooms the smaller one wasn't much bigger than a cot. By the end of the build she was pg again. opps

Lucycat · 05/03/2008 21:21

I'd like to see the hufhaus one again though...and the guy in the forest - all the rest are dull.

pattymc · 05/03/2008 21:23

I agree I think these modern boxes look like the outside of school gym
and yes what a couple of moaners

there is ALWAYS a problem with the large panes of glass

OP posts:
DaDaDa · 05/03/2008 21:24

They seem OK to me.

Not sure why you'd go to all that trouble only to build a 2 bed house if you're starting from scratch though?

pattymc · 05/03/2008 21:24

nice tach

OP posts:
warthog · 05/03/2008 21:25

why is kevin so damned pessimistic all the time? every blinking grand designs has to have some drama - even when there is none!

yogabird · 05/03/2008 21:33

i met a couple at a dinner party on saturday night and they were turned down for the programme - traditional place they are extending and restoring, no high dramatic expense, no pregnancy, doing a lot of it themselves but... not interesting enough apparently

pattymc · 05/03/2008 21:35

it's all in the suspense although they always finish it in the end and happen to have a spare stash of cash to do it

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 05/03/2008 21:39

exactly, patty, and that's what robs it of suspense and makes it entirely uninteresting.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 05/03/2008 21:40

I love Grand Designs but the last lot of new ones I really felt were uninteresting - just lots of rich people throwing money at the project without really getting all that involved (besides buying over the top chandalier oven extractors things). Much prefered the older programmes when people actually did a lot of the work themselves and really showed passion for what they were doing. Really enjoyed last weeks programme as well - didn't mind that it was a revisit as I never saw it last time round. Haven't seen this week's either although not as interesting as last weeks.

yogabird · 05/03/2008 21:41

this is a bit different in that the design is shite and i can't see how they didn't think of it before...his room's alright cos he's small...yes! but not forever you silly man

and why softwood and all the work that entails?

pointydog · 05/03/2008 21:43

interesting space... blah blah... sympathetic design... blah blah... over budget... grimace grimace.... feat of engineering... blah de blah... marverllous staircase... wankety wank

pattymc · 05/03/2008 21:44

I agree expat and for that reason I am now turning over, they should have used hardwood.
it's a very small box

OP posts:
pointydog · 05/03/2008 21:45

hardwood, softwood, no wood, steel
