Has anyone else watched the new Panorama special on the downfall of Sam Bankman-Fried?
I watched it tonight and found it fascinating and horrifying in equal measure. I wasn't really engaged by the actual events when the whole thing blew up, but it was interesting watching the BBC's potted version of it. Especially given that SBF is due in court next month and so no one knows yet how the story will end. Well, I'm sure someone's going to prison.
There were some wonderfully cynical remarks made by the commentators who featured in the doc about how the whole basis for the value of cryptocurrencies is basically FOMO, and because their value rests entirely on public opinion, perception is really the only thing that matters as far as making money is concerned. Which is all obvious in hindsight I'm sure.
