Has anyone watched this? First shown about a year ago.

If so would be interested to see what you thought.

I think, as usual, I missed / didn't understand the overall concept / message but loved all the different situations and various groups of characters.

Although have to admit I didn't like the main character as a young girl, nor as an adult!

I finished it last night and thought it was completely mesmerising and one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever watched.
My husband gave up half way through and went back to playing fifa though so I guess it isn’t for everyone

Yes I liked the way it was filmed, and the use of music.

But I think I am a bit pedestrian, and every new situation bought up questions about how could this have happened / developed post pandemic.

And also I am hopeless when series time hop.

I find it easier when it just just moves forward through time.

I saw somewhere that the book was written in 2014 - thank goodness Covid didn't act as quickly as virus in that!

Scary.

I've read the book and would like to watch the series... if its ever on a free channel.

Goodbookandcupoftea · 23/09/2023 23:52

I loved it. I loved the book and enjoyed the differences.

gertrudemortimer · 24/09/2023 00:17

I love the book and I've loaned it out to loads of people however the show didn't grab me at all! It's the only time I haven't been able to watch something I've loved reading.

IwantToRetire · 24/09/2023 00:20

Can anyone explain the signifigance of the book in the tv series that is of such importance to Kirsten?

And just to add that I like that there were a range of female characters, and they all had personalities, back stories, and weren't just presented as she-heros.

I suspect it is one of those series that I will have to watch a second time to really get to grips with.

Unfortunately only had a temporary subscription to Lionsgate but maybe one day it will be on a free service eg Becoming Elizabeth was a Lionsgate special but is now on a main stream channel.

Not really connected but now have a cheap 3 month subscription to Disney + and have started watching a Korean futuristic detective stories.

All these do make the 9pm slot on UK tv seem pretty feeble.

I loved it, binged it in two days. Apparently the book is a bit different. Such an underrated series though. Might have to rewatch.

I watched it when it was first shown and loved it. I've read it is very different from the book. It was very slow in places and as Jeevan would say "so pretentious" but by the time the choir sang "Midnight train to Georgia" I was crying. It was really unusual and imaginative and I wish more shows like this were made instead of lazy crime dramas.

IHeartGeneHunt · 26/09/2023 14:16

Oh I loved it! Jeevan was my favourite. Only thing I've cried at in years.

But yes, so pretentious! Grin
