Old school drama miniseries and boxset recommendations.

I'm in the mood for some old fashioned comfort viewing. Can anyone please recommend some old miniseries/dramas/period dramas?

To give a few examples I'm about to start watching North and South(The drama about the U.S Civil War). I also recently bought Heidi and Roots. (Roots I know is far from comforting but it's an old series that I feel I have to watch especially as I recently bought the book.)

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

TIA

If you ‘like’ Roots then follow it with its ‘sequels’, the gift, the next generation and also the side tale Queen

The gift (This was made after ‘next generation’ but it’s timeline sits between some of the original Roots episodes - note that it isn’t an Alex Hayley story and is a Christmas TV movie)

The next generation is what its name
appears to be, the years that follow Roots

‘Queen’ which is a separate side of Alex Haley’s family

Secret army is a good call from @Nat6999

Secret Army & Kessler have just gone through a reshow on cable TV, and they are also on YouTube

Before watching Kessler it’s worth searching for the ‘unshown’ special - “What did you do in the war, daddy?”

Secret Army is a drama that Allo Allo was inspired by.
What did you do in the war, daddy is provided in the style of a post war documentary reunion of the main characters
Kessler is a Nazi Hunter spin off

I can't believe no one has mentioned Larkrise to Candleford. Comfort telly at its best.
