Repeats of this on Sunday nights, BBC 2 , 9 30pm after Mortimer and Whitehouse gone fishing.

I thought it would have dated terribly, but we really enjoyed it, not seen a decent sketch show for years.

Yes we have been watching it too and it is still very funny. Thought I would have been disappointed. My favourite is “aren’t mums brilliant”

dressedforcomfort · 05/09/2023 22:42

Boutros Boutros-Ghali

dressedforcomfort · 05/09/2023 22:43

Jazz Club was always my favourite.

Nice!

Many years ago I was on a teleconference at work with a couple of colleagues in the room with me. Someone at the other end had a coughing fit, one of my colleague hit the mute button and said "arse!" in a perfect Bob Fleming voice, it took us a few minutes to recover.

Was one of the answers on Only Connect this week. Always makes me laugh.

ThePoshUns · 06/09/2023 00:41

I had a friend who thought they were saying' horse' not 'arse'.
So she'd say 'horse' at someone coughing. I'd be laughing because she got it wrong and it was too funny ( I thought) to tell her otherwise.
She did cotton in after a while, but 'horse' became our group in joke for a long while.

Rather than binge, we are going to savour it, works really well after the gone fishing program.

Hard to think of another show with so many catch phrases which we can all still remember and are instantly transported back in time by.

Gatekeeper · 06/09/2023 08:34

When dh has been on the rampage shopping and proudly displays everything he has bought ..."and a cat bra" always features

EufyProsser · 06/09/2023 08:41

I was surprised, on watching it again as a middle-aged adult, how much pathos there is, underneath the punchlines: the vaaair drunk man, Unlucky Alf, that utterly miserable 'what did I say?' marriage...

Seeing people smoking actual cigarettes in pubs, as well as Jazz Clubs, was a funny jolting moment too.

Nolongera · 06/09/2023 08:51

Just checked and the first episode went out on 27 September 1994, so it's nearly 30 years old.
