Police procedural recommendations

Looking for light police procedurals, if they have a will they/won’t they element then all the better, and a bit of humour.

These are the bedrock of TV in our house as the only thing we can get the teens to watch with us these days.

We’ve seen:
Lucifer
Death in Paradise
Castle
The Mentalist
Sherlock
All the David Suchet Poirot series

We’ll probably give Happy Valley a go (older
teens, but they light the slight funny, work it out nature of those listed).

Is Midsomer Murders a bit naff? Incredibly light but diverting enough for 90 mins.

The DIP spin off is good- Beyond Paradise. Helps if you love Humphrey!
Unforgotten
Annika
Vera is excellent!
Maybe try them on a bit of good old Columbo?!

24 hours in police custody on Channel4

Not exactly a police procedural but they will probably enjoy Hustle on iPlayer, DS loved it when he was a teen

wizbit93 · 02/09/2023 16:33

No Offence. Definitely fun! Channel 4 I think?

Some great ideas. We have tried the DIP spin off but just didn’t quite work for us.

Hustle is a good one, we’ve seen them but the DC haven’t. Think they’d love that.

Line of Duty - maybe a little less light but some
great lines! The best police procedural out there!

Hope Street - Northern Irish, fairly gentle. Many crimes involve sheep.

Brooklyn 99?

No Offence is brilliant! Gritty and funny in equal measures. Not suitable for younger audiences but suitable for older teens.

SWAT is great for familial piss taking.

StColumbofNavron · 06/09/2023 09:08

Brooklyn 99 is a firm fave already, we have rewatched lots of those.

Bones.

Good comedy and romance elements.
