I loved the finale!!

They better not put mat with min. Mat's love story is pretty damn significant.

Oh man that was such a great final
episode.
Delighted with the last scene with Moghedien my favourite forsaken.

Twazique · 07/10/2023 10:46

I thought they were abandoning Rand's three girlfriends but in this episode we had Rand connect with Elayne and Aviendha really notice Rand, so its only a matter of time before Min is involved.

Sheisready · 07/10/2023 17:29

I loved it too. I couldn't remember some story lines, so I think we may have got beyond where I read. There's also been some harrowing times, so it was a relief to end on a bit of a high.

Is there a hero of the horn who is some kind of Amazonian figure? Possibly a name like Bridget?

I am finally really starting to appreciate how they've depicted the power and weaving too.

theproudgeek · 08/10/2023 08:33

@Sheisready yep, Bridget Silverbow. She's just behind Uno and should get more screen time in later seasons.
I am so glad Mat sounded the horn, and I think it was even more effective as I really thought they were going elsewhere with him, and then I would be cross. It's really making me think about whart plotlines / moments are essential and what could be dropped without harm.

GingerIsBest · 08/10/2023 09:55

Great end to the season and glad to see Matt realising he's not a total loser.

I felt they are positioning Elayne as his love. Possibly min knows about her and rand but it's a bit vague and Aviendha isn't obviously going to be for him. Will be interesting to see how they develop that.

Birgitte silverbow. In the books (not too much of a spoiler I don't think) she is helping elayne in the world of dreams and moghedian kills her, so to save her elayne brings her back into the waking world which means she stops being a hero of the horn. Other stuff happens too :)

I’ve just rewatched it. Enjoyed it just as much the second time round, despite all the changes from the book.
I was sad that Nynaeve wasn’t able to embrace the power at the tower (lol) and help Egwene out a bit. I get that they are really emphasising her block so we get more of that and resolution thereof in further episodes but it felt a bit off that she managed it in season 1 to heal Lan et al when Logain kicked off, but she couldn’t pull it out of her arse to protect her life long friends.
I’d also hope that as a Wisdom should know to cut/break the fletching off an arrow before pushing it through someone’s leg.

I’m also guessing that all the changes to Mat mean he’s not going to Rhuidean as he’s got his memories and ashandarei (sort of) now? All he needs is his hat and dice and we’re good to go.

Am I right in thinking that Moghedian travelling is the first time we’ve seen that on screen? Nice nod to the fan base there.

EileenBrysonsTeabags · 08/10/2023 17:51

The tiny blink and you’ll miss it shot of Masema’s awe struck look up at the tower was also perfect.
I’m currently half way through Crossroads of Twilight and am pleased that they are putting in the ground work for this character in season 2.

GingerIsBest · 08/10/2023 18:47

It feels like Rhuidan is being ditched completely? Wasn't that how Moiraine was originally stilled? Or is that a later/second thing?

EileenBrysonsTeabags · 08/10/2023 19:04

They can’t ditch Rhuidean they just can’t! Flicker flicker flicker is arguably the finest scene from the entire series.

Moraine isn’t stilled in the books. Something else happens to her which is Rhuidean linked, sort of.

Zampa · 08/10/2023 22:50

Do you think the Moraine "stilling" replaced the Siuan/Leane stilling from the books (given how Leane appears to have just died on top of the tower).

Was disappointed not to see the Turok/Rand sword fight. Thought that was quite critical for Rand's character development (deserving the Heron sword etc).

I'm liking the TV series but it does feel like they're whizzing through the story, which I suppose is necessary, given time restraints.

When did lianne die on the tower? Did I miss that?! She was still in cairhein with the rest of the aes sedai I thought?

I agree that there isn't enough of rand learning to use that sword!

Zampa · 09/10/2023 07:06

Leane (the Keeper in the books) not Liandrin (Red Ajah Dark Friend) @GingerIsBest

Vocaladvocaat · 09/10/2023 07:09

Enjoyed the finale and how all of the five had a part to play. Matt being good in the end was a great twist. Egwaine’s (sp) revenge was pretty well done as well.

Yes, but she was in cairhein not the tower as the Keeper when they all went to "meet" Rand. How/when did she turn up at the tower? Are you thinking of the blue aes sedai who was also a suldame? But she was the sitter - the one moiraine talked to at the white tower in the baths and who told her she had to stay, causing moraine to insist she be exiled?

Or have I missed something?

Zampa · 09/10/2023 08:21

Ah, no, you're right @GingerIsBest. I thought that the subtitles had referred to her as Leane at some point but the Aes Sedai who died on the Tower wasn't the Keeper, Leane. (On further research, her character on the WOT TV wiki is called Maigan). I did get confused as to why there was suddenly a new Keeper!

Maybe the stilling will still happen then. It's important for Egwene's character development.

That's right. Maigan was a sitter in the books too, but I can't remember the name of the sister who talks to Egwene in the camp. I assume it was also Maigan but not sure.

Did we ever see the yellow sister who gave herself up for Nynaeve again? She didn't die as they put a collar on her but I didn't spot her on the tower?

Sheisready · 14/10/2023 21:59

I’m missing this so much!

GrouchyKiwi · 19/10/2023 21:58

We finally caught up with the rest of the season, and I shall sit here alone still hating it. Grin

I thought the writing was completely rubbish, things made no sense, they spent ages on things that didn't matter and no time on bigger things (like Rand killing Turak like 3 seconds after meeting him, and Ingtar dying way too fast).

And WTF was with Perrin?!

And they've taken EVERYTHING cool away from Nynaeve and turned her into a completely useless character.

There were one or two flashes of good, not many, IMO.

CampervanKween · 19/10/2023 22:35

Kind of agree, though really wanted to love it.

However I would love to be an Aes Sedai. Especially one with a bonded warder to look after me, and another as a lover on the side. And not aging. Glorious.
