800 words is a really sweet Australian series if you can find it on any of those streaming services.

Barton Fink

Shirley

That one about Dylan Thomas 🤔

Mumteedum · 27/08/2023 13:04

Series.... Lots with journalists....do you mean more like authors/playrights or do journalists count?

The Field of Blood on prime

State of Play is a great thriller about journalists (TV show not Hollywood remake)

MaudGone · 27/08/2023 13:06

Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters

Sgtmajormummy · 27/08/2023 13:13

Nicole Kidman as Virginia Woolf in The Hours.
The Librarian is a fun ripoff of Indiana Jones, with a bumbling know it all and his Lara Croft style assistant. For older teens maybe.
The Dylan Thomas film The Edge of Love portrayed him as a self absorbed but charming blood sucker. Probably quite right. Gillian Murphy and Keira Knightley played an interesting love interest.

PermanentTemporary · 27/08/2023 13:22

Adaptation
Trumbo
Synecdoche New York (i couldn't keep watching it though)
The first series of World on Fire has Helen Hunt as a journalist

Another vote for Shakespeare in Love

Embelline · 27/08/2023 13:23

The Magpie Murders on iplayer. A “who dunnit” about a writer who writes who dunnits!

Mumteedum · 27/08/2023 13:23

There were two films about Truman Capote

Was it in cold blood... something like that?

MrsSkylerWhite · 27/08/2023 13:25

Mank (I think it was) with Gary Oldman

XelaM · 27/08/2023 13:25

The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair follows "a young writer who heads to Harry Quebert's home for some inspiration. Instead, he finds that Harry's been accused of murdering 15-year-old Nola Kellergan, who went missing years prior."

It's very good.

bryceQ · 27/08/2023 13:26

The Bold Type?

Devilsmommy · 27/08/2023 13:29

Most Stephen king films. Secret window, misery, the shining, the dark half, the Tommy knockers and more that I can't think of the top of my head but you get my drift😊

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 27/08/2023 13:30

Isn't Dylan Moran’s character in Black Books a writer?

CrossPurposes · 27/08/2023 14:48

Stranger than Fiction (if you aren't a Will Ferrell fan don't let him put you off)
Romancing the Stone

ButteryNuts · 27/08/2023 16:17

Moulin Rogue
One Day
The Great Gatsby
The Help
Love Actually

XelaM · 27/08/2023 19:23

Also Cabaret - what a fantastic film

squashyhat · 27/08/2023 19:32

Chesapeake Shores. One of the sisters is a writer. Pretty incidental to most of the storylines though.

SaturdayGiraffe · 27/08/2023 19:34
