Is anyone watching this? I'm on episode 5 and I've had to switch it off for a breather. It's absolutely blown my mind, I had no idea how the Oxy crisis started.

I had previously watched Dopesick, which is better IMO, but he’s it’s absolutely shocking the devastation caused by one family’s greed. A recent survey found 42% of adults in rural America (which is where they targeted) have had opioid addiction. “Demon Copperhead” by Barbara Kingsolver is a book about how the opioid crisis has hollowed out rural America.

I don’t know how the country ever recovers from this

I'm currently watching it, it's good although Dopesick is better and well worth a watch if it's still on Disney Plus. Finding some of the scenes in Painkiller a little strange, almost filmed like a black comedy. The opioid crisis has been going for years, I think there's been more than one episode about it on Drugs Inc, if you've ever watched that.

The book Empire of Pain is a deep dive into the Sackler family and the Oxy crisis - as well as the awful power of Big Pharma. It’s just awful really. How the changed the rhetoric around pain to suit their own ends.
