Recently finished the Boxset and really enjoyed it. A reboot for current times would be interesting, I think.

Love this. I've researched a number of times and just finished recently. I often describe my daughter as a mix of Ben and Karen.

Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner are a couple irl now. Got together 2017 (note I am not accusing them of any overlap, they both separated two years before then, hadn't seen each other for a while after Outnumbered finished but found love later according to a friend).

@Sewfrickinamazeballs a mix of Ben and Karen sounds awesome, lol. @SequinsandStiIettos yes, that was an interesting development! Must confess that I'm not a parent but the whole family dynamic came across very realistically to me 😊

Apparently Hugh Dennis would reboot it happily but him and Claire aren't old enough yet for them to do a reverse situation i.e. the adult kids looking after their parents. That said, seeing as Daniel Roche dropped them both in it by claiming they'd been together longer than they had (which he later said was untrue and had been misquoted) perhaps Ben won't be welcome at the breakfast table. Hugh and Claire have kept their careers going. Daniel and Ramona not so much and I haven't seen Tyger in anything for a while. His names used to come up for potential Strictly contestants but not recently.

Thanks @SequinsandStiIettos I was actually thinking of a reboot having a completely new cast and representing today's thinking. It would be such a good comparator. I do wonder if it would have the same freedom to be funny as well though 😐

I think the last one was about 10 years ago? So for a new one the kids would be in their 20s, still living at home as they can't afford to move out? I suspect it would go like the later episodes of 'my family' which weren't funny .

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 20/08/2023 20:18

I agree that a completely new series/new cas in a current setting with strikes/Alexa/phone addiction/CoL/SATs/school catchments etc would be interesting. But that begins to overlap with Motherland.

Tygers been in a bunch of films and shorts in the last few years but none of them have been huge. He was in Cuckoo though and was a presenter on CBBC. He's said he wants to bring back outnumbered.

Daniel and Ramona are currently at university.

NeelyOHara1 · 20/08/2023 20:36

Thanks @IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads but surely Motherland prioritises the mums/parents first and foremost whereas Outnumbered is more about both I think, so would have its own separate USP?

Outnumbered isn't outnumbered without the little kids. It's the absolutely hilarious stuff that Ben and Karen used to come out with, and their deadpan naive delivery, which made the show.

SequinsandStiIettos · 20/08/2023 21:31

Daniel and Ramona are currently at university.
He's looking for a new agent according to an interview last year, as he hopes to make a return to acting. Good luck to him, it's trickier for child actors. (I assume he's graduated, he was a fresher in 2018). Ramona, you're probably right, Spanish/mandarin degrees usually take longer and she's still only 22.

I love this show.

But if course it shouldn't have a reboots.
It's always ruined when that happens
