I think that Fatboy knocking on car window spooked the policewoman a bit and she thought that maybe the Fosters lived in that area ? Plus they thought that Lucy dying was something to do with Cindy.
It was many years later from her going into WP and it was silly, but the whole storyline is completely bonkers.
It probably would have worked better without the girls being there , but I suppose they are the reason to stay on. Plus she still loves George etc ( I can sense the chemistry!)
