The new Big Brother

So Big Brother is meant to be starting soon … what are your thoughts on it?

I loved BB when it was on channel 4 and still remember a lot of the characters, arguments, highlights etc … I specifically remember the infamous “fight night” with Victor and Emma … the plate smasher … Jade Goody … Pete …

Then it went to C5 and turned absolutely shite, they filled the house with young wannabes who acted up to the cameras 24/7, they were all love island types, picture perfect and shallow as hell. That’s what killed BB

Im really hoping the new BB goes back to the original C4 format!

It's going to be hard because people are so media aware now. I loved big brother and watched every single episode. So many people try to use reality shows as a stepping stone to a media career now.

I watched the early series and enjoyed them. Watching Helen and Paul fall for each other was one of my highlights. It was all about watching a bunch of very different, normal people of different ages, social backgrounds with different life experiences come together and see how they got on. Later on they tried to jazz it up with more and more unusual characters but that spoiled it for me. I'm not sure if we can go back now, the early contestants were unaware of how it was all being perceived outside and not playing up to the camera. Now everyone has seen so much reality TV that we all understand so much more of how it works and people go in thinking of the opportunities it might lead to so act accordingly.
I will probably watch it to start with and we'll see if its worth sticking with.

Y I don't tjink.you can ever recreate the early series,tbh ,I remember avidly watching the very first series and the beauty of it was the, contestants had no.idea how popular the show was out side of house and little things cause big scandals like nasty nick cheating (although can't remember exactly what he did now with out googling!) after the first 2 or 3_series ,it lost its way and people just went on it to become famous .

I want to be so excited about this but I know I'm setting myself up for a fall. I'm sure it's possible to find interesting people who aren't Love Island types but will they look for those?

The new eye was shown on an ad break and I got a little thrill from hearing the theme tune. Oh if only we could have the days of Majorie the Hen back <sigh> I love blinking, I do.
