Anyone watching this? Didsbury couple are soooo underwhelmed by their amazing house!!

Their faces seem like the actively dislike it! Especially him. Personally I'm not keen, I think they grey and white already looks dated as a style.

MurielThrockmorton · 12/07/2023 21:03

I was watching it. I was wondering how much of the styling is done for them and how much is their ideas. I was a bit underwhelmed by the flat though.

Rummikub · 12/07/2023 21:08

Ha I’m glad there’s a thread as I thought the exact same thing!

They didn’t like the (v expensive I presume) wall rug I don’t think.

they didn’t seem to engage in the after interview- like they wanted him to leave!

MurielThrockmorton · 12/07/2023 21:14

I didn't like the hall, I thought the personality of the old hall had been lost with all the dark paint. The kitchen just looks like every other kitchen on these types of programs. I liked their bedroom though, and I liked the wall rug.

I haven’t seen this episode but a FoF was on an old series and 90% of the furniture/styling was props that they took away after filming

The Didsbury house has just sold recently. Looks like quite a bit of the stuff in the house was theirs. I wonder what happened to spend all that money and then sell up. Dreadful EPC. Maybe that's why the man looked so glum, thought of the heating bills.

SoupDragon · 12/07/2023 23:19

The dressing room and master bedroom has no one of the furniture from the programme. The rug on the wall has stayed though!

I couldn't work out their reactions. He looked positively grumpy.

SoupDragon · 12/07/2023 23:20

None - not no one!

Kitsmummy · 13/07/2023 00:50

Ooh interesting! Tbh the end result wasn't my style but it was their sheer disdain which amused me...assuming they had a lot of input into it you'd be expecting them to love it! Or at least be a bit excited by the Big Reveal!

That's what I don't understand. George gives them the bones of the plans and they then act on it. They don't have to go with what he says - in this case they made tweaks by swapping the bedroom and dressing room around. The only bit that is "forced" is the removable styling at the end really.

I thought the flat transformation was pretty incredible really. She ended up with a great living space and still retained the 3 bedrooms.

WillyLows · 13/07/2023 21:17

The didsbury house was a disgrace - all those original doors replaced with hideous new ones. He did a terrible job.

AussieKoala · 14/07/2023 23:33

Just catching up on this episode and couldn't resist a nosey on Zoopla. It says it's currently for rent, so looks like they didn't sell it?

Cathotels · 22/07/2023 17:53

I loved the lilac kitchen in this weeks episode, didn’t get the ovens being in the built in cupboards below the stairs though, they looked the wrong height.

The glass kitchen in the other property was fabulous.

SoupDragon · 22/07/2023 20:41

I really hated the lilac library shelves. Not my thing at all!

the ovens under the stairs were a bit odd weren't they? Far too low.

HalleLouja · 02/08/2023 21:59

I wasn’t sure what George did this week apart from the bannister.

I am assuming the kid’s bathroom was upstairs and we didn’t see that.

Also, did he give up his job to do the work?

Londoncatshed · 02/08/2023 22:18

Just watched the first two episodes of the new series. Completely agree, I was also puzzled by the first couples reaction. Surprised they are selling so quickly. Hope it works out for them.
Loved the design of the Hove house, particularly the kitchen. Although not my style was very stylish!

nobodysdaughternow · 02/08/2023 22:18

I have just started watching the much earlier episodes. I can't get a handle on how perfect these houses end up.

It is so unachievable for the average homeowner.

I remember when LL Bowen did that home makeover programs - now their were houses I could relate too.

DIY on a shoestring is a thing of the past.
