Any oldies watching BBC4?
Are we allowed to like this old stuff in the light of pronouns etc?
I'm 70 now but I was 30 before I knew that Dame Evadne and Hilda Bracket were men Confused
Hilda was the image of my 'spinster Aunt' and I loved her very much.
Shit, I'm on the memory lane, road to bed now.
Hope someone knows WTF I'm on about Smile

I worked backstage on one of their shows they were the most lovely people and were very funny live!

One of them lived a few doors down from DH when DH was a kid. Very lovely people.

It did rankle me somewhat when Paul O’grady died and everyone was saying that he brought drag into the mainstream, like these two never existed.

I used to love Dame Hilda's "ahhhhhhhh" routine for cleaning her specs while continuing to talk Grin

I never realised they were men either! I was told by my now DH when I was about 19. He still finds it funny I didn't realise!
