So many to chose from. Started watching Faking Hitler about the forged Hitler diaries but it's not gripping me. Tend to go for thrillers although not really into the grim serial killer ones. Enjoyed the french series 'by the lake'.

Yes I liked that one

Have you done all the Danish 'those who kill' on iPlayer?

Bloodysoapoperas · 02/07/2023 18:10

No. Will take a look. Thanks

Both from 2019 but still good, the Dutch series The Adulterer, and Blood Pact. Nordic Murders is a good German (and a bit Polish series, three, I think. I also thought the Danish Cry Wolf from last year was very good. The Twelve is Belgian, about a jury and its members' lives (remade recently in an Australian version). And a couple of French things, Torn, a bit trashy, and The Chalet, people staying in a rente mountain village getting bumped off. Both with alumni from Spiral.

"What Pauline is not telling you" and "Astrid", both French are good. Also "1985". Not actually Walter Presents but a film on Channel 4.

I’ve just watched The Marnow Murders and Spiral of Lies and enjoyed both a lot (Spiral of Lies stretches credulity a little but it’s still gripping). Also really enjoyed The Twelve and Astrid.

DP really enjoyed Astrid series.
Some good suggestions to try.

Deutschland 83 is really good, the sequel Deutschland 86 not quite as much

Cry Wolf (Danish) is excellent.

Seconding What Pauline is Not Telling You, binged the whole four hours last night. Best thing I've seen in a while.

Also, When The Dust Settles. Feels slightly Borgen-esque.

Dark Rivers was quite good too, a bit silly but entertaining.

The Hunter about taking down the mafia in 1990s Sicily is fantastic. Complex characters and no clichéd good cop bad mafioso characters.if you ever watched Narcos, you’ll enjoy this. Delves into relationships and moral choices and of course, being Italian, wonderful to listen to and look at.

Two more Italian recommendations on Walter presents - the red door and ice cold murders (Rocco schiavone)

Really enjoyed them both

Some more I enjoyed - some plot holes, inevitably, but watchable enough.

Stockholm Requiem
Snow Angels
Dark Woods

I've just started Sloborn which I'm enjoying

Have you seen Agatha Christie's Hjerson? It's very good. Took me a while to place the Swedish female lead until my son pointed out she had played Eggsy's girlfriend in the Kingsman!
