Watched pilot last night.
Part of me intrigued
But quite a large part struggling to care about any of the characters or their rich people problems.
Should I continue
Is it worth it?

I didn't get past the first episode either.

chipsandpeas · 02/07/2023 13:51

yes its worth it

chipsandpeas · 02/07/2023 13:52

if you finish it you probably still wont care about any of them but its quite interesting

AllIwantforChristmas22 · 02/07/2023 13:52

Yes yes yes

so worth it

it gets much better

season 4 was brilliant honestly

Likeaburstcouch · 02/07/2023 13:53

I could have written this OP! It took me maybe 2 and a half episodes and I was hooked. You do eventually find someone to root for.

MrsMariaReynolds · 02/07/2023 13:54

Yes , absolutely! It is a very slow burn in terms of "action" but so worth sticking with it.

nobodysdaughter · 02/07/2023 13:55

Stick with it! SO worth it!

Reallybadidea · 02/07/2023 13:57

It's a bit like Ozark in that most of the main characters are truly awful people, but you're still engrossed!

Hmm. We didn't watch ozark
We don't have a huge amount of time
for telly watching (wondering if we should reconsider many of our subscriptions for financial reasons tbh) but maybe I will give it another go.

It is genuinely one of the best things I’ve watched on tv. You will hate pretty much all the characters. Yes they are obscenely rich but they’re so rich it becomes almost irrelevant if that makes sense. They’re not ‘just’ millionaires so it’s a level of wealth that is so completely unobtainable you just accept it. And I certainly wouldn’t want their life!

Honestly can’t recommend it enough.

MintyCedric · 02/07/2023 14:05

Hmmm…it’s a funny one.

Overall the business side of it bored me senseless, especially the last series.

The characters are interesting though, if not likeable…I only really cared what happened to two of them after 4 series.

Second season was my favourite.

PuppyMonkey · 02/07/2023 14:09

I watched the first episode and wasn’t particularly wowed. Left it a while and then continued it when I was bored one night, and that was it. Hooked! It’s basically Tom and Gregg who changed things for me and also something else happens which you will want to know the outcome of.

Still have the theme tune as my ringtone.

PuppyMonkey · 02/07/2023 14:10

Also it’s not even the slightest bit like Ozark imho.

fudgepie12 · 02/07/2023 14:14

It was a slog to get through for me, I enjoyed the last couple of episodes but I only forced myself through it all as it was so popular I thought the good bit was coming. By comparison (due to the satirical nature) I much preferred White Lotus.

KnittedCardi · 02/07/2023 14:15

DH was like this. Then I persuaded him to re-watch it with me, got to episode three and he was hooked. He got sooooo stressed by it, he used to have to spend an hour or so winding down afterwards. A little bit too close to his real life, but far, far, more brutal.

TheOGCCL · 02/07/2023 14:15

There's not exactly any plot so my main motivation was in some of the crushing one liners and snappy dialogue. But imo that's not enough to sustain four seasons.

You can drop out of this show at any point really, you won't miss much.

That's worth having a look at? I have heard good things about this

@squeezedinthemiddlewithyou yes I REALLY enjoyed White Lotus!

UncleRadley · 02/07/2023 15:51

Ooh yes! I remember thinking that I hated them all after the first few episodes so couldn't see how I could get behind it but it's so so worth sticking with it.

UncleRadley · 02/07/2023 15:51

I didn't like white lotus at all, apart from one character

Lazylikeasundaymorning · 02/07/2023 15:54

We watched the pilot and then left it for a year as we weren’t really hooked by it- tried again during lockdown boredom and pushed through - i now think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever watched

FeigningConcern · 02/07/2023 23:32

Succession is the best thing I've ever watched on TV. I wasn't sure after the first episode although was slightly intrigued by the ending of that episodes so gave it one more and was completely hooked.

The characters are unlikeable but also incredibly complex and interesting so you can empathise with some of them while also finding them pretty awful. It's also really funny. Absolutely brilliant TV.

Definitely keep going with it!

SheWontSheCantShesLeft · 02/07/2023 23:36

It is sloooow. I often don’t really understand what’s going on.

But it is def worth carrying on til the end of the first series.

midsomermurderess · 03/07/2023 00:04

If Succession isn't satire, I don't know what it. It's comedy, it's drama, and it's satire. It's quite dense, fast, layered. It needs your full attention. And you're never on firm ground. I get why people don't like it. I think it's one of the best, sharpest, funniest and sad things I've seen in years
