TWW - the supremes

I hate season 5 but this is an outstanding episode.

I'm with you on both the low of Season 5 and the perfection of The Supremes, one of the all time greats. I've just started re-watching series 5, and in Han Toby tells Leo 'we're drifting' - you're not wrong Toby, you're not wrong...

I am on about my 7th rewatch. I think it’s such a shame they followed the high of The Supremes with the low of Access.

Without a doubt Aaron Sorkin’s season 1-4 are the best, but I do always feel I have to watch it all.

Having just rewatched the end of Series 4, knowing now that it was to be Sorkin's last, and that part of the reason he left was because the studios wanted to have more control over TWW, there is something quite pointed about it ending with Pres. Bartlet's child being forcibly taken from him, leaving him no option but to stand down... In 20 years of watching I had never thought about the possibility that Sorkin was making a comment about his own situation? Maybe?

I used to do an annual West Wing watch, but now it's every couple of years and I'm afraid I'm ruthless about skipping the less interesting episodes (Access, the live Debate to name but 2).

I admit to skipping access this time. I think I have skipped the debate before too. And the early one in Season 5 where Josh goes off the rails, I admit I find that a bit tedious.

Im sure I have heard/seen Sorkin talking about the episode where Zoey was taken, iirc he did do it on purpose as he knew he was going. I had never thought about it the way you put it but the parallels are there. Have you listened to the podcast done by Joshua Malina? He was never my favourite character but I did enjoy the podcast.
