I tried the first three episodes and switched had to switch off about 20 mins in to each one. They were so utterly dull and poorly acted.

Poorly acted ? Selma Hayek was in the first one ! It can't agree . Loved it .

I just watched Loch Henry and now I can't sleep.

Which is the most lighthearted ep? I don't like it when it's v hopeless

I'd say Joan is Awful for sure, the rest are a lot darker

It's not Black Mirror. It's meant to be a satire of technology with an Outer Limits/ Twilight Zone twist... and these have either been predictable, or worse, just campy and cheesy.

Really disappointed. Although I did sort of like Demon 79.

Definitely moved further away from the tech theme. Some didn't feel quite like Black Mirrors. Joan is Awful, Beyond the Sea and Loch Henry were good. I didnt like the others.

I felt exactly the same. Even down to kinda liking demon 79.

Black mirror has always been commentary on social and society ills. This was a predictable and boring general series.

I've only watched Joan is awful and loch Henry but I still see the theme -
Joan is awful is those fucki g ridiculous ticky boxes everyone (except me) ticks without reading the small print

Loch Henry was dark , but also about the tech - it's what gave them away .

I don't get anyone saying the theme is different?

Only watched Joan is Awful, Loch Henry and Beyond the Sea so far. The last two of those stressed me out 😅

And I don't think it's "meant" to be anything other than what the writers and producers want it to be - it's doesn't have to stick to the same script over and over and over

Once upon a long ago Cherokee Brooker did a web chat here and we got chatting- bal o Morrow was a mere twinkle in his eye beck then but he did tell me a smidge about it and I was thrilled - and watching them - I still am . It's amazing tv . Better than the bland shit we usually have .

Don't get me wrong, it was entertaining, and they should be able to do their own thing... but it used to be a really creative bunch if stories with proper, thought provoking twists. This series has been kind of flat.

Joan Is Awful was I guess, more like the old series. Not a great episode, but similar vibe.

Loch Henry was just a generic thriller twist, a bland whodunit.

Beyond the Sea was just a bog standard survival story so to speak... and as the concept is revealed early on, WHY if the replicas are capable of doing g everything a human could do, were THEY not the ones on the space ship?

Mazey Day 8s a bland horror. Was the twist really that 'a' was a 'b'???

Demon 79...and although I did enjoy it, again, the twist was obvious at the start... it could only have gone one of two ways. Real or imaginary.

I've only watched the first two but I have a question. Do you think the casting of the Mother was deliberate, given the part that this actress has played in a previous drama?!!

thought the last season was a bit shite (except the excellent Sci Fi episode), so happy they’ve got the episodes back on track.

Wasnt overly keen on Joan is Awful but mainly because I have no clue what was going on at the end until DH explained it to me in detail 😂

@C1N1C I had exactly the same thought! I wish they had given a reason for that. Was it something to do with testing what being in space would do to them? They had a load of plants with them. Having the replicas go to space would surely be a much better option and safer for the humans? But then the story wouldn’t work. I did find the ending quite upsetting. Josh Hartnett - bit of a blast from the past!

I haven’t watched all the episodes, but loved Joan Is Awful.. Thought Mazey Day was ok, felt a bit nostalgic which I liked. I don’t really like anything too scary so not sure about whether to watch Demon 79 and Loch Henry.

They mention at the start it's to gather data on how time in space affects the human body, so they had to be there.

@Meerkitkat I did google it and saw that. I just didn’t massively pay attention to it as I think it was before they revealed about the replicas. But it is what I had assumed anyway. Still think it should have been more explicit.

Beyond the Sea isn't a bog standard survival story, its got lots of layers - fear of technology, what it means to be human, jealousy and loneliness. I watched it a week ago and still pondering on it now.

It was one of my favourites!

I was a bit underwhelmed generally, but really liked Demon 79. I wondered was it dome dort of homage to his wife? The character's name being Huq and all the 70s references. I loved Sappire and Steel as a kid and Boney M. Loch Henry was nicely sinister. But overall notbas good as previous series.
