Did anybody else watch this last night? I found it a very 'human' programme, really good view of the rollercoaster of it all and how it affects the whole family.

Hope she keeps well after such a traumatic time of it.

I thought it was brilliant.

Sarvanga38 · 13/06/2023 10:40

Me too - very obvious how strong she was trying to be for the family and for herself, but that sometimes she just couldn't hold it.

Overall as positive a spin on it as anyone could have in that situation, I think, but such a hard time for her and for all of them.

She's got such a positive attitude to life. She deserves her success and I found it really emotional. Especially as she lost her mum so young.

I watched it too. The bit where she spoke about how she wasn’t going to die because her children need her, oh gosh that was it for me, made me cry.

I thought the programme was so engaging and showed what a lovely family she has. Such a strong woman, I admire her strength. I hope she beats it.

I watched it and have great admiration for her. It mustn't have been easy for her, baring her soul on tv as she went through gruelling sessions of chemotherapy and reviewing her mother's notes knowing how she died prematurely at 39.
Showing us lumps of hair as it fell out.
Thankfully she has a very tight and supportive family.
So so brave of her. I couldn't do it. I would want to hide away.
💐to you, Sarah.

Brilliant film and how brave is SB.?
This will give encouragement to so many women.

Very bitter sweet, I found it very moving and wish her well.

'The bit where she spoke about how she wasn’t going to die because her children need her, oh gosh that was it for me, made me cry.'

I hate comments like this. Does she think all the other mums like Rachel Bland, Dame Deborah James etc just check out as their kids don't need them?

Yes great be positive but cancer is a lottery there is no choosing to stay for your kids. Some people survive and some don't, it's all a tragic luck of the draw.

ksjsb · 17/06/2023 10:07

@Janiie I bet everyone of those mothers said the same thing, her own mother died of cancer when she was 10, of course she knows it's not "checking out".

LadyEloise1 · 17/06/2023 17:51

I do agree with you @Janiie that cancer is a lottery and there is no choosing to be there for your kids and that some survive, some don't and it's all a tragic luck of the draw.
