I know it's not a modern/new thing but I'm into watching Dr Phils. Grin Don't need anything stretching right now so this is great. I haven't watched him since about 2000. It's more Jerry-Springerry than I remembered, maybe he became more like that. I remember him as more life-coachy or something, had one of his books.

I'm not watching them in any particular order.

Any fans here? Grin

Wouldn't say I'm a fan but I used to watch him years ago. He has some great sayings.

Love your username BTW

I'm a fan and I watch on YouTube tooBlush.
Have you seen the episodes about Jeffery Dahmer ? I was glued to them.

porridgeisbae · 27/05/2023 23:36

@AndTheSurveySays I've not been watching the episodes long, will find those, thanks. Sometimes I even clap when the audience claps at something one of the guests says etc. Grin

I know I should get out more.

@JaneJeffer Good one. Sometimes I have to google some of his sayings to try and understand what he means, though.

Yes! I love the new stuff too! Lots of conversations about trans ideology and children.

porridgeisbae · 27/05/2023 23:42

@Jellyx Yes, now he's stopped doing the show and said he's going to do something to help modern families. So I wonder if it's going to be partly something against the extremes of gender stuff and its impact on kids etc.

I mean, he's 72 now apparently so he can do what he likes even more.

I wonder if he'll write a book about trans stuff and how kids should be brought up or something. And have a foundation to do with that.

What's he saying about it? Because I watched one the other day where he was all for it, he had a guest return who he had had in as a child who had transitioned with 'great success' and was now in their twenties.

GladysHeeler · 27/05/2023 23:50

It might have been this one.

Oh I very much got the impression he's against it! He allows both sides to be heard .

GladysHeeler · 27/05/2023 23:54

Well, he wasn't against it in the episode I watched. At all.

Inkypot · 28/05/2023 00:10

You've just reminded me I used to love his show. That's me watching an episode on body positivity movement as I type!
Thank you for the reminder

AndTheSurveySays · 28/05/2023 00:13

S17 was years ago, he's probably changed his mind. He's done many episodes on the trans issues, Kara Dansky was on an episode a couple of weeks ago.

porridgeisbae · 28/05/2023 00:16

I haven't watched it yet but he had Matt Walsh vs some ludricous looking specimens. The creatures did all the work of making themselves look a joke, really.

I think he's just a big faker that manipulates his guests to make himself look good and he and his wife are always trying to offload some skin crap or something at the end of the programme.
Sorry, I know that's negative but I've gone right off him.
