A Place in the Sun- early shows

So I was watching something on All4 and when it finished started showing A Place in the Sun when Amanda Lamb was at the helm many years ago. It was a totally different show and better for it! Episodes from all over the place- not just Spain etc and information about additional costs such as service charges, estate agents and immigration costs. Cannot stop watching as it is a lovely escape- rarely watch these days despite loving shows which offer an escape from the every day. Obviously the world (and prices) have changed a lot since then but I had forgotten how different the show was then. Currently in Australia and they are talking about visa costs and proof of ongoing income. Also no presenter in massive heals and going out clothes staggering up a dirt path and selling scrub land views 😁

Oh I used to love the early ones. My guilty pleasure viewing. I loved the little hidden houses in places like Italy or stone cottages in France. It has got a bit samey-samey Spanish villas now.

It's very samey-samey Spanish villas now. The early series sound much better

My house was on A Place in The Sun. We bought it 3 weeks before the episode aired, must be 22 years ago now. Glad the couple didn't buy it, I've been very happy here.

Laughing at scrub land views. Everytime they talk about the balcony having lovely views DH and I are like "Does it?"

That's funny @brittanyfairies

I agree with all the previous points. It's a bit of a thing with me when day time presenters dress so inappropriately for the job they're on. It's always the women, the men are in more casual and comfortable things that fit the weather and the situation.

I can't see how people are expected to comment or decide on property without things like buying costs and ongoing service charges. We rarely get to know much about the surrounding area now, or other important factors.

Did anyone watch Holiday Homes in the Sun with Amanda Lamb? It's on the My5 app and has one of JLS and Sam someone who used to be on Made in Chelsea I think. They get along really well and it has loads of information and weighing up pros and cons and they all score each venue and see which comes top.
