I saw an ad for these streaming service saw looked it up.

I think it has ads to pay for it, so it may be no worse than using ITVx as a free services.

Has live tv and on demand.

Just wondered!

I've never heard of it but I'd assume the ads pay for it.
Where did you see it?

IwantToRetire · 10/05/2023 17:34

It came up as a tv ad with quite a famous US actress, and I paid attention because I was trying to remember her name.

And then I heard the word free tv!! So I thought I need to find out more.

Its part of Paramount so I also thought maybe what are currently big new tv shows on there, will eventually be available via this service.

It seems to have been available in the UK for some time https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/how-watch-pluto-tv-uk/

More recent article. https://www.tomsguide.com/news/pluto-tv

I dont have any of the devices listed, but as it says it plays in web browsers I would be able to watch that way as I already have a long HDMI cable that means I can stream to my tv.

This was the tv ad, so now I know who the actress is - Drew Barrymore!

Just seen the ad for ( with Drew Barrymore) this pop up on my social media & wondered the same??

PersonalClown · 11/05/2023 18:46

I do.
I watch the CSI NY channel as nowhere in the UK streams any of the CSIs and Child likes the cop channel. Lots of Traffic Cops, Police Interceptors etc.
A few ads per show but no more than normal TV.

Just reviving this thread as I have just found I can now watch Pluto TV via Virgin Media (which is a more comfortable set up that via my computer).

So just wondered if anyone who has Pluto tv has any suggestions.

There seem to be a lot of programmes, one offs, box sets etc., and could spend the whole weekend just clicking through each category.

I like crime series like Happy Valley and Blue Lights (although find most US ones all a bit samey).

I like SciFi so long as it realy is SF and not ghoulies and ghosties.

Some family dramas are okay, but they can be a bit samey too.

Historical dramas

Thanks

I tried watching the Location Location Location channel via Chromecast but the stuttering was awful so I gave up.

That's why I was pleasantly surprised to find I could access it via VM ie not all the glitches via computers, tablets etc..

But as I dont recognise the titles of many of the shows was hoping someone who was more familiar with Pluto would have recommendations.

My TV wont load the app but I've put it on my tablet where it works well. To my delight, its has the later series of Australian My Kitchen Rules which Prime, for some unknown reason - maybe I'm the only viewer?- didnt buy. So hurrah for it. Havent noticed anything else I want to watch though.

IwantToRetire · 07/07/2023 16:38

It does seem to be more about catching up with already broadcast series, so may have to see if there is anything I didn't have access to before and can now watch.

But can see given it is also live tv, and its free, that for some families it must be a god send.

Have now found the schedule list! https://pluto.tv/en/live-tv/csi-crime-scene-investigation-gb

Do you work for them?

Freevee on Amazon prime, or it's own app is another alternative.

IwantToRetire · 14/07/2023 16:40

I didn't respond at the time as I found the comment a bit silly.

I am on the scrounge for free tv content as I am coming to the end of my 3 months free with Disney+.

In the past have always found mumsnetters more than willing to share.

I am still plodding through the menu, but a lot of it does seem quite old.

But could be a good resource for families limited incomes.

Theres a Prime offer just now OP, 30 days free for many of their subscriber channels. Really useful as long as you remember to cancel in time

IwantToRetire · 14/07/2023 18:02

oooooooooh! I've never had Prime. Thanks Smile
